    Rugby League

Just back from yet another fantastic weekend of Rugby League at St James Park, Newcastle. The Magic Weekend truly is magic (if you enjoy rugby league). Six games over two days, fans mixing before, during, and after the games, two days of glorious sunshine. Superb value for money.

Varies depending on where you sit, but day tickets started at £25 and weekend started at £40. I didn’t go this year but have been to Newcastle twice in the past when Leigh have been in Super League and also a couple of times when it was at the Etihad.

I paid £40 for the two days sitting in the East Stand which is unreserved seating. Around £6.50 per game is excellent value. You can leave the stadium and reenter if you like.

We've been to Leigh for a game but don't understand the pig mascot.

I'm going to do this next year, assuming it's back at Newcastle, as it looks like a brilliant event.

Focus now is on Wednesday and the final state of origin.

I'm going against the grain and say it needs a re-think. I didn't really enjoy the rugby part that much.

Concept is good but too many come and go. We managed about 1.5 games each day. Oh and I don't believe the crowds given out. I went last year and it felt much more fans were at the games and in the city by a long way.

Think it could also be that super league just not a great standard at the moment. I also went to the challenge cup final.

I'd much rather watch league 1 or the championship in england.

It stems back to a sponsorship deal in the late 90s with Parkside Skoda, with accompanying ‘Parky Pig’ mascot. Still waiting for the Warner Brothers lawsuit 😁

State of Origin decider tomorrow morning. Should be a cracking game , hopefully a NSW win , definitely can't cheer a team called " The Marroons "

Queensland won 22-12. Decent punch up and real intensity in the game.

Cracking game. I'd imagine there will be a few bruised bodies after that encounter

Of all the places for me to stumble on an Origin spoiler…🥲

(Not really. Twitter ruined it for me and only seen a short bit of the highlights. Never cheer for a team in maroon, I say)

Good to get back to league 1 this weekend and the cougars charge towards the title.

Hearing Leigh are hoping to get up to super league as understand they won't stop the cougars charge next season 😁.

sorry didn't see this, nope, but Toulouse ahead 14-0 at HT, not a huge surprise as i think they've been pretty unlucky in a few games

Toulouse win 20-6 and go level with Wakefield at the bottom. Bit of hope as they Salford and Hull at home in their next 2 games.

Thought 42-12 flattered Wigan a little bit. Some turnaround at Wigan winning 60-0 last week and Leeds getting a bit of a stuffing in Toulouse.

I’m looking forward to this weekend in Whitehaven ahead of Whitehaven v Leigh on Sunday

Signed Lachlan Lam from Sydney Roosters this morning. Arrives next week and got him for next season too. Pretty confident at this stage that we’ll do the business and get promoted, and then just hoping it’ll be fourth time lucky in Super League!

Least it's not Workington, absolutely hate going there. Although last time I was stood with a load of Haven players on beer and they were cheering for the Cougars!

Six left to go for season unbeaten. I'm heading to the Midlands this weekend. Probably jinxed it now.

We played Workington away the other week. Even 20 odd degree heat doesn’t make it look any better. No redeeming features at all. Cockermouth is great for a stop off though.

Shame we haven’t been able to keep him really as he’s been very impressive. I know he hasn’t been happy that Wigan have recalled him from his loan a few times and then left him sat in the stands.

Players coach broken down near Nottingham.

This is what makes RL so good. No messing about all jumped on our supporters buses and on way to ground together.

Imagine if that was football ha.
