AJ's trainer said he's looking to come in around 7lb lighter than he did against Takam. Good, as I do think he was too big. He'll need to be quicker against Parker.

Delighted the way the fight has worked out. I am organising a stag do that day. 18 of us booked into Hospitality against Partick, and then I had a table for 21 booked in the 3 sisters in the evening for grub. Been advised today they have moved us up to the beer hall as they are opening it for the boxing, so have requested a decent table in front of the big screen. Should be a cracking day.

Josh Taylors next fight announced for the Hydro on 3rd March. Seems quite short notice so can only see it being a defence of his WBC silver title.

UPDATE - Opponent now announced as Humberto Soto

Seems like a ticking over kinda fight til something bigger appears, don't know much about Soto but looks likes he's had lots of fights, so a bit experience for JT rather than moving up the rankings

Also just saw that 1&2 and 3&4 in the WBC are all fighting and the winners meet for the vacant title, so nothing much can be done other than gaining more experience in the meantime

I will be there though, Easton is never in a bad fight and sure McGregor will be on the undercard as well

Soto looked absolutely huge at the press conference , he is going to have to lose some amount of weight to make the 10st limit and will undoubtedly be drained. He has also not had a fight since 2016 and is 37 years old , if Taylor is as good as most people think he is this fight should be relatively straightforward.

Soto is actually a small 140 fighter. He's fought at featherweight, super feather and lightweight. He does look like he needs to lose a bit of weight but he should make the weight no problem. I think he looks huge because he has a massive heid. Must be a Mexican thing because Mikey Garcia's huge dome also makes him looking bigger than he is. Vasquez had a massive heid tae.

As for the fight. Soto was some fighter in his day but at his age I doubt he'll be anywhere near the fighter he once was. Experience might get him through the fight but no chance he beats Taylor.

It certainly was. Interesting to hear that he’s absolutely struggling financially to make a living from the game. I reckon most fighters at his stage would still be working full time.

Yeah heard a lot of fighters say recently they don't make much money out of fighting.unless you are a big ticket seller don't think you make much till you get to world level and at that most will be closer to a 100grand rather mayweathers 100 million pay checks.

It is. But thankfully it’s not the young champion that’s overweight.

Gassiev - Dorticos. Tonight ITV4. Cruiserweight Mohammed Ali Trophy semi final. Could be an absolute war

Last week's other semi was good entertainment Usyk could be a player at heavyweight in the future. One good thing is the final will have all 4 titles on the line.

    Carson Jones overweight as well.

Don't know if you'd call this boxing but there was a fight tonight between 2 you tubers at the copper box, apparently an 8000 sell out plus over a million views on you tube, crazy a lot of pro's don't get anywhere near those numbers.

I know pretty boy will be along to tell me(probably rightly) that the fight should have been stopped, but surely it needs to go a bit further than that. The other guy is still throwing punches ffs.

    United we stand here....

  24. #593
Buatsi does look the real deal.sadly looks like the 2 main events are going to clash massive crowd in Russia. Quite a setup as well.

Gassiev impressed tonight, controlled the fight from the start and eventually put him away.

Agreed. Dorticos stood up pretty well to a lot of punishment but it just took its toll in the end.

In the other main event, Okolie simply used his size to Bully Chamberlian.

Gassiev was very good.as was Dorticos just a bit to much in the end for him. Should be a great final.

Okolie vs Chamberlain wasn't very great Okolie just used his size to bully Chamberlain don't know how far he can he's along way off of the world champs in that division.he isn't half big though 6ft5 is huge think we might see him as a heavyweight in a couple of years.

Usyk vs Gassiev next lads. Who ya'll got ?

  29. #598
Thank the lord we also had Gassiev vs Dorticos to watch as well, this was one of the worst fights I've ever seen.

Both these fighters are on a fast-track to absolutely no where and won't move past British level, book it.

Either of these jokes would be KO'd in the 1st round by Gassiev, Dorticos, Breidis etc....even Tony Bellew would school them.

What a total disgrace that "fight" was
