the best and most honest post I have read on this issue. my wife and I , got rid of Sky, for the cost. she asked me for my opinion before doing it.I was in total agreement, mainly because of the greed it it has caused in football. she had other reasons but I think it is totally disgusting, when players are paid astounding money for a week's wage. half the world is starving, but these torags are living the highlife. watch Cheshire housewifes, then compare that with Magdalene housewifes! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. As you get older you start to prioritise things like rugby ahead of football.
So I'm told. ;-)

I love Hibs as much as I ever have - and to be truthful more than I have in some previous, recent days (Caldewood, Butcher fiascos for instance).
I've also been a fan of Barcelona since the days when the real Ronaldo was the star of Bobby Robson's team.. And I'm a member of a Fc Barcelona supporters club.
* I've never been a member of a Hibs supporters club despite being a season ticket holder for the last 27 seasons!
The only football I watch in flesh is either Hibs or Barça. By and large, the only football I watch on TV is Hibs, Barça, la Liga and the champions league(if either of my 2 teams are playing 😆).
I generally don't watch English, German, French, Dutch, Italian or Scottish live games on the box despite the fact I have the full cable sports package. I also never watch Sportscene or match of the day.
In short, I watch my 2 teams any chance I can and I watch la Liga for enjoyment.

As a kid I would watch any game on TV including all the Tennents sixes etc but I think there was much less on tv on those days and it has reached saturation point - so pick and choose my games apart from Hibs games.

I don't watch as much as I used to. I agree with those who have said the money in some leagues has taken the romance away. Having said that, I'll watch the bigger EPL and Champions League games, though not many now. I don't watch any of the European leagues these days.

Don't follow the game at all now. Don't have a Sky or BT subscription so don't watch games on TV. Couldn't tell you who the World Cup, European Championship, FA Cup or Champions League holders are. Can only think of two players who play for our city rivals Hearts - Jamie Walker and that guy who looks like Rolf Harris.
Have a ST and travel away regularly, but it's more than sport. You can't replicate that feeling of belonging and camaraderie sitting watching from the armchair.

I love football.
As I've got older other things have got in the way, work and family life etc but truth be told football is still high on my list. I don't get to as many games as I would like. Although outside Hibs i rarely if ever watch scottish football.
I'm sports daft in general.

Once, I would have said I'd watch anything but most football bores me now with the incessant cheating (diving etc).

Absolutely football mad. Cant walk past a park without stopping for a few minutes to watch kids kicking a ball about. Just love the game and always have done and Im guessing at my age now always will do.

Used to follow the game a lot but now not so much, as with the common theme here, other things take up time in your life as you get a bit older and football takes a bit of a back seat, although I do like the tactical side of the modern game and Serie A is probably my league of choice for that particular fix after Scotland. Will never stop following or watching the Hibs though! I think football is maybe 4th on my list of sports I like to watch behind Boxing, NFL and the NBA.

Hibs are in the blood though and that's why I retain a connection with football, which is actually a far duller sport than many think.

I'd say I'm losing interest in football in general but my interest in Hibs has gone up since we were relegated.
Even before Rangers were allowed to die I could never have told you which of the ugly sisters had won the league the previous year.
Couldn't give a monkeys about European or International football.
Id struggle to name more than a couple of non Hibs players in Scottish football, don't think I could name any from the English leagues? Does Wayne Rooney still play? If so that's one :)

Like many on here, I used to watch every game I could as a kid before Sky.
When Sky came along I still watched it all before it got to saturation point. I still have Sky and will watch 5 or 6 games a week but what I don't do is watch the pundits. I turn it on at kick off, watch something else during the half time interval and switch it off at the final whistle. If Hoddle is co-commentating then the sound is also switched off.
I've also found other sports that I enjoy, in particular cycling and Biathlon over the winter months (fabulous sport). What I can't stand are the 'stop start' American sports that don't flow.

I'm pleased to see that I'm not the only one that knows next to nothing about football outside Hibs. Back in the day I could list starting 11s for loads of other teams, but I struggle now to name two or three in other teams, even the yams.

I was definitely a late bloomer - my dad took me to matches when I was about 10 and I used to be that kid that walked around in the full kit, he stopped taking me and I never followed any football at all after that pretty much all through senior school and Uni. I just heard the odd result here and there and would maybe watch Hibs Hearts on the telly if I wasn't doing anything.
I had a few Hibs mates from work and one of them offered me a ticket to Hibs v Falkirk in the semi final - yes, that game. Probably one of the better games to re-kindle any sort of passion towards Hibs and football. He even got me a ticket for the final too, which wasn't quite as good but I was kind of hooked after that.
For some reason, it wasn't until I left the UK and moved to NZ that I really looked forward to the weekend to watch/listen to Hibs play. I now stay up until 5am every Sunday morning to read the match day thread and listen to open all mics.
So I feel a bit of an impostor since I was so late to the game, but it was early enough for my heart to be beating out my chest 15 minutes before, and the duration of that game we played on the 21st of May, so I'm thankful for that.

It's how much you care about your team that counts and you certainly aren't an imposter in any way, shape or form.
