Beam me up Scotty was never said in Star Trek.

Apologies if it's been mentioned already, but ....

"Play it again. Sam" isn't a line from 'Casablanca'.

The real lines are, "Play it once, Sam. For old times' sake ..." and, "Play it Sam. Play 'As Time goes by ...'"

And Oliver Hardy never tells Stan Laurel "Well, here's another fine mess you've gotten me into ..."

Similarly, I've just found out I've been singing a certain Christmas carol wrong. In "we wish you a merry Christmas" apparently it's "good tidings we bring, to you and your kin"!!!
For 38 years I've been singing "good tidings we bring, to you and your king"!!! I'm 100% positive that's what was typed on the A4 sheets we got handed out at Christmas assembly, also a bit pee'd off that nobody corrected me until now!

I read today that after Kakas retirement this week every player from the famous Istanbul 08 Champions League Final has retired with the exception of Milan Baros.

No he wasn't. Lots and lots of Sioux survived the battle.

And King Harold wasn't killed by an arrow in his eye.

He was hacked into handy bite-sized gobbets by a three Norman soldiers.

In 1923 a jockey won a horse race in New York despite dying mid race. He suffered a heart attack, the horse completed with him still on board and won by a head. He was discovered dead when connections went to greet the horse. He never weighed in but the result was declared official.

    Aye, fair enough.
If I had been Mr Ed (aka Comanche), I would have played the obvious card too when I found myself surrounded.

The Caley hotel has the original clock from when a railway station was on that site hanging on the wall in Peacock Alley.
I remember the old Caley Station. At Christmas they used to have a huge tree in the concourse with a model railway running round it.

Seeing as it's the solstice, I wish everyone a happy Saturnalia.

And then point out that Saturnalia is an anagram of Australian.

    Black and white aren’t colours.

Some people say that white is no colour and black is every colour, while others say that black is no colour and white is every colour.

You think that's bad mate. I'm nearly 60 years old and despite me singing it in Churches, Party's, and any Festive get-togethers, I've only just been told that the correct wording for Jingle Bells isn't anything to do with Hertz or New Years Day :-0

I had to think very hard there to remember the correct words.

The common cold is actually a group of more than 200 different viruses and you're unlikely to get the same one twice.

I know this because I seem to be suffering from most of them right now.

Brilliant! I was singing that in the shower this morning and also came to realise that I've no idea what the "traditional" words are.

Is it "Oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh"?

    Apparently, Jingle Bells is racist.
