Think it is 22 wins on the spin.
He is also closing up on the number 1 ranking spot. If he wins this tournament he will be on 8225 points while Djokavic is on 9040. Not sure how many points you get for a slam event.
Must be in with a shout of being world number 1 by the end of the year.

He's a long way behind Djokovic at the moment. No points for Olympics or Davis Cup exploits, unfortunately.
Djoko will lose points by missing Cincinatti but Muzz reached semis last year so he won't pick up too many more even if he wins the title since it's a complicated system of defending points.
A win in New York would be a big help!

Hope Andy has enough left in the tank for US Open. Reports suggest he was pretty knackered against Tomic last night.

There's a weeks break after the Cincinnati open then Andy will play a week on Tuesday at the us open so has ten days for niggles to heal. I wish he wouldn't bother chasing the no 1 spot and just concentrate on the majors as that is what he will be judged on. Probably lendl trying to install a totally winning mentality is behind his desire to be ranked no 1.

Is he chasing number 1 spot though ?
I genuinely think Murray plays to win EVERY single game/tournament/match he plays in..I don't think he is actively seeking number 1 status, Though it would be a bonus.

There are two Ranking systems that run concurrently, the Singles Rankings (points gained over the last 12 months) and the Singles Race (points gained this season, or since January 1st), also referred to as the 'Race to London'. They should match by the end of the season. I think it's based on points gained in the Slams, Master 1000s and a small selection (maybe 5?) of best results gained in smaller tournaments.
Djokovic is well ahead currently because of all the points he accumulated in the first half this season and the end of last season (US Open, Australian Open, French Open, World Tour Finals and 6 Master 1000s). Realistically, to achieve Number 1 in the near future Andy would have to completely dominate from now until Wimbledon next year. Or Djokovic to get horribly injured for a while!
It's definitely possible but I think he'd be happy with some more Slams.

I can see Andy winning in Oz and then targeting the French for the grand slam so to speak. He's in a great groove at the moment and is winning even when his serve isn't at its best. If he gets more consistent on his 1st serve he is going to take some stopping. None of the up and coming players are at Andy's level yet though raonic and del potro if he can stay injury free could be dangerous in the next couple of years.

#22 in the books and what a superb performance. Hopefully one more win then a rest before the US Open. Incredible run.

Muzz saying he's "not feeling perfect" but just oozing confidence right now. He brushed big Raonic aside...

Can't see Cilic causing Andy and problems in the final today. Get this under his belt and get a good rest before the US Open kicks off.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Murray's 50th win of the year. What a machine.
BTW Think the final should be on about 9pm.Last edited by PatHead; 21-08-2016 at 10:19 AM.
