It used to rile me everytime I heard the media down south mention it. The older I got I realised every country is exactly the same. Can't remember a season in the champions league when the "Lisbon Lions" aren't mentioned.
As it goes.... I couldn't care less and I'll tell you for why.... Hibernian FC are Scottish Cup CHAMPIONS and believe me, that will be rammed down everyone's throat as much as "since 1902" "England 66" and "Lisbon Lions 67"

Who gives a donald duck! I'm still enjoying the event that occured nearly 50 years later. At least West Ham won the WC tho. :-) I'm getting impatient waiting on Whitney Houston adding Sir David's goal on to the end of her One Moment In Time video though.

I have been watching sport on the BBC for nearly 40 years and have never heard it being mentioned at any opportunity 🙄
Well if they did really win it perhaps after celebrating its anniversary they might perhaps never ever ever ever mention it again ... 🙏🙏🙏

50 year anniversary is an appropriate time to celebrate, so I don't really have a problem with it to be honest .... didn't quite get the 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20 ,21,22,23,24 ( ) 26,27,28,29,30,31,32,33,34,35,36,37,38,39,40,41,42 ,43,44,45,46,47,48,49 anniversary celebrations though
When you claim to have 'given the world the game' and claim to have the best league in the world ..... but have failed to even make the final of 19 out of 20 world cups and never made the final in 15 attempts at the Euros I suppose you have to make the most of things don't you
