    Jamie Murray

After Andy's phenomenal Wimbledon win it was good to watch Jamie play a key role in securing a 2-1 lead v Serbia in the Davis Cup with victory in the doubles this afternoon. Just one win away from a semi-final spot as Great Britain bid to retain the trophy. I didn't think the team had much of a hope without Andy in the side but they've put themselves in with a real shout. Also good to see Andy make the trip to cheer the team on. I love the fact these guys are Hibs fans.

I think the fact that Novak Djokovic and Viktor Troicki are also not playing has helped to soften the blow of Andy's absence to be fair.

It's still good if GB can get through to the semis though.

Looking forward to the day Jamie has time in his schedule to do a half time turn (same goes for his mum, grandad and wee brother, of course!).

Serbia still had players ranked well above the British guys, so it was a very good win today. Congrats to Jamie for ensuring 2016 continues to be a good year the Hibbies.

It will be a big psychological boost for the lad Edmund to have won the key singles matches and hopefully that takes a bit of pressure off Andy in these matches. Shows what a top bloke Andy is when he chose to travel to Serbia to lend his support when he could easily have opted for a bit of deserved time at home with the family. No sign of Djokovic doing similar to support Serbia.

Brand new definition for the phrase now.

Across the board GB were actually higher ranked than Serbia. Edmund is the narrowly the highest ranked singles player of the lot and both Murray/Inglot were ranked above their doubles players.

Either way, credit to Edmund - two good wins under pressure.

It was a great result for Edmund considering he didn't have the safety net of knowing that Andy Murray was the other singles player. All the pressure was on him to win his singles matches.

However Edmund was the highest ranked singles players out of the four players who played singles matches in the tie and Jamie Murray and Dominic Inglot are both ranked higher than their doubles opponents so it did go with form.

Your correct, but also the fact it was an away tie has to be factored in, the team play well and deserve all credit.

Should this be on the main net, thingy. Ah mean, its tennis, not Hibs. Just cos they r Hibs supporters. Aye, ahm a stick in the mud, but, tennis is pi5h.

Yeah it's not easy to win away from home, particularly in a hostile environment. The British players had to put up with all sorts of distractions from the Serbian crowd this weekend so fair play to them.

    No it's not.

Aside from Boxing I can't think of a more attritional sport.

The guys have to be fit as fleas and prepared to go five sets.

Imagine having to face Novak over five sets?

It knocks playing 90 minutes of hoofball into a cocked hat I reckon.

Agree. The level of fitness a tennis player has to produce is amazing. Second only to darts 😳
