I think that match was probably the last chance for Federer to win anothet Grand Slam.

Ì can't see him getting as good a chance to add to his tally again in the future.
Agreed. It's a shame for him to go out that way and I hope he doesn't keep coming back and going out earlier and earlier. He is, at this moment in time the greatest of all time and I hope he doesn't soil that.

He's won more majors than anyone but I don't think he's the greatest. He's fortunate he came along before Nadal, Djokovic and Murray found their feet.

I know a tennis coach and he reckons Federer is the greatest of all time because he plays textbook tennis, forehand and backhand.

Federer is the greatest and he has won majors with the likes of nadal, Djokovic and Murray around.

I dunno, I think Djokovic is probably a bit lucky he peaked after Federer had hit his own peak.

Think the unluckiest of all is Murray! He would have won many more slams in another era

I think he's beaten Djokovic and Nadal in their early days and Murray a couple of times.

The rest were racked up vs players on their way out or vs 1 final wonders.

8/1 for Kerber to win now. Tenner on that.

Bold move! I can't see Williams losing this, Kerber not forced a break point yet.

Just my opinion but women's game is nowhere near as good to watch as the men's.

Should be 5 set matches in the slams too.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, vodka in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Of course it should be 5 sets. It's a farce that it's not. If men played 3 sets and women played 5, with the prize money the same for both, it wouldn't be tolerated. The women would be screaming about inequality.

    It was only a tenner.

I quite enjoy women's tennis, you're right it would be a better spectacle in 5 sets, it can feel a bit easy compared to the men's. But a good women's game that goes three sets can be great. You often get longer rallies than with the big serving guys.

Worth a punt at those odds but Serena's serve was too good today, and she picked her return game up at crucial points

Only question for serena Williams now is if she can pass Margaret courts record of 24 majors

It's a very subjective topic however I would personally say that Roger Federer is the greatest tennis player of all time.

By some considerable distance as well.

I know both Gordon Reid and Alfie Hewett. Been to several camps with the pair of them. Delighted for Gordon Reid in particular. Having played wheelchair tennis myself, I can confirm that it is definitely a proper sport in every sense of the word. These guys are full time athletes, just like the men and women in the able bodied version.

You wouldn't get anywhere near to the top of the wheelchair tennis game if you weren't a dedicated athlete.

Absolutely agree with this 100% but be prepared for the onslaught that this post will undoubtedly bring. I had the nerve to bring this up last year and I was branded a nasty, insensitive person for airing such views.

John Rankin hasn't half grown since he gave up football for tennis! Reckon Andy will be too strong for him today.
