    Why can the Brits only manage to make one kind of roll/Bread? We've got bakers here that literally have hundreds of different sorts on the shelves.

    Was just about to post the same. The choice of bread in supermarkets alone now is incomparable to even 5-10 year ago. I have 4 'artisan' bakers within 15 minutes walk of my house as well.

    I don't think it's gotten to all Tesco's yet but ours (in Guildford) has The Emporium Bakery inside it and every type of bread you can imagine is made inside it. Costs a bit more than the usual crusty bread options most Tesco's offer but the choice is exceptional!

    And they STILL can't get plain bread from Scotland!

    Never noticed that, probably because I'm always excited and fully concentrated on getting a loaf of pan so I can leave the crust on my plate
