After a recent Greek derby match was abandoned due to crowd trouble their F.A. has come down hard. Why can't our lot do stuff like this?
Panathinaikos was on Monday deducted three points by the Greek Super League for fan violence before the recent Athens derby with Olympiakos which had to be called off before kick-off.
Panathinaikos was also fined 190,000 euros and instructed to play four home matches behind closed doors, while the league handed Olympiakos a 3-0 victory for the disrupted match.
The game was a abandoned before kick off when an Olympiakos player got hit by a thrown flare. When they announced this to a busy stadium there was a lot of trouble with some fans. While we don't have trouble like this nowadays, it's good to see some people in charge handing out punishments that should have the desired effect.
