    Hibernian History Day 111

    Season 1985-86

Easter Road was further redeveloped and the East terracing was covered and bench seating installed.

Brian Rice was transferred to Nottingham Forest. The fee was disputed and eventually resolved by a tribunal who valued Rice at £175,000.

27th October, in the Skol League Cup, Hibs put six past both Cowdenbeath and Motherwell (6-0 and 6-1) and then beat Celtic 4-3 on penalties after a 4-4 draw in the quarter-final, Hibs then beat Rangers in the two legged semi-final 2-1 on aggregate. They were however not good enough in the final and lost 3-0 to Alex Ferguson’s Aberdeen.

5th April, in the Scottish Cup, after beating Celtic 4-3 in the quarter-final, Hibs lost 3-0 to Aberdeen in the semi-final.

May, Gordon Durie was sold to Chelsea for £380,000, more than six times what Hibs had paid for him.

Typical Hibby, no mention of "them" winning the double that season
