    Hibernian History Day 104


    Season 1978-79

    13th December, Hibs lost 1-0 to Aberdeen in the semi-final of League Cup.

    28th May, after beating Hearts in the quarter-final and Aberdeen in the semi-final, it took three games and extra time before Rangers eventually beat Hibs 3-2 in the Scottish Cup Final. Hibs goals came from Higgins and MacLeod.

    Piece of trivia here....

    It was the first Scottish Cup final televised live in Oz.

    Yer Aussie Joe was used to the FA Cup finals, but this was his/her first taste of The Scottish equivalent.

    I had been in Australia for 5 years, and was absolutely steaming by the time of the midnight kick off.

    Woke up the next morning and had less than total recall...

    That great save by the Huns goalie big lanky Peter Mcloy in the last minute of the first game is the nearest we have come to winning the holy grail in my lifetime. I was right behind the goal and was celebrating a certain goal when somehow Mccloy saved it

    i was behind the goal as well just mind being surrounded by these muppets ,mcloy was a big lucky so and so against us.

    Was the Aberdeen goal the Fluke cross that went in? Was at all 3 games of that final, can't believe Colin Campbell didn't get penalty
