Natalie McGarry MP, surely not another one

Serious financial issues at Women for Independence. Guardian alleging that Natalie McGarry MP is under the spotlight

    http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/nov/23/snp-mp-natalie-mcgarry-missing-donations-claim?CMP=share_btn_tw

Is that them down to 54?

You've got the self righteousness covered. Just need a few more SNP bad posts, some cybernat abuse and then we're done.

Only to be repeated on a completely different thread tomorrow night.

It all seems a bit like Adolf and Josep squabbling over the best use of the Sudetenland to me.

    There, Godwin's covered an aw.

Big difference in the allegations, one is against a non elected Labour member the other is a MP. If any of them are guilty they will face justice but an MP always gets hammered

Seriously though, McGarry is surely innocent until proven guilty. It's sad to see WFI having an issue like this, I reckon they were very influential in increasing the pro-yes vote over the course of the referundum campaign.

I hope that she innocent. I hate the idea of a group being deceived by one of there own.

But questions need to be asked off the SNP on their vetting and selection process as some reports in media saying the SNP knew in March. £30k is a lot of money, serious jail time IF she is guilty.

I think she's right to do so, I don't know the rules and regs for other parties but it would be nice to see them do the same.

Ruth Davidson, Carmichael, and Marie Rimmer.

Yup, it takes the party out of the spotlight while the investigation is ongoing and they can be re-instated if they are innocent.

I must have missed the Ruth Davidson thing, whats all that about?

She was helping police with their enquiries, just like Natalie McGarry, and others.

Should Marie Rimmer remove herself from the Party whip, or should Corbyn do it for her? She's been CHARGED with assault, the trial is set for April 2016, she denies the charges.

Our politicians really know how to set an example . I'd love to see a list of criminal convictions for all our MPs and MSPs.

Whilst I don't particularly like her politics or the group that might have been robbed I certainly don't like the idea of someone stealing £30k from donations from people that do.

Story in tomorrow's Record claiming McGarry paid back a 4 figure sum to WFI

    http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/po...figure-6909180

MP NATALIE McGarry handed a four-figure sum to Women for Independence before the group called in police, it emerged yesterday.
The embattled Glasgow East MP gave the cash to WFI, who she helped to found, after financial discrepancies were revealed in their accounts.
    ADVERTISING

The Record revealed on Monday WFI had called in police after an audit found£30,000 in donations is unaccounted for.
Much of the money is understood to have been paid to a Paypal account linked to McGarry’s bank account.
The 34-year-old resigned the SNP whip on Tuesday.
It’s understood McGarry accepts the bookkeeping of the group was poor and attempted to resolve the situation with the payment late this summer.
A source close to the MP said: “She was in the process of trying to sort out what was a shambles.”
Friends say she was “shocked and dismayed” when her collegues at WFI called in the police.
McGarry – who denies any wrongdoing – helped set up WFI as a small campaigning group in 2012 and was responsible for their finances before she became an MP.
The MP has offered to meet police to discuss the case but this has not yet happened.
The police have also not established any criminality took place.
McGarry’s solicitor Aamer Anwar said last night: “It would be inappropriate to comment until we have had an opportunity to provide the full facts to both WFI and the police.”

Scotland can be a beacon, within these islands and beyond, for a socially just and sustainable society. Whilst there are many priorities which will require independence, there is also much that can and must be done now by the Scottish Parliament and the Scottish Government.

The Daily Rancid continue to try and smear Natalie McGarry, and even when told the truth, they can't bring themselves to print a correction.

The fact she went anywhere is irrelevant in the case of alleged missing money. Has she explained why she paid back £6k yet?

There's just something about you talking about smears and backing it up by linking to someone who smeared the Hillsborough dead that makes your post totally without credibility.

Why don't you stop quoting him. Why don't you just post your thoughts? I'm sure they are valid and worth hearing.

Can you, for a minute, just read the story and comment on that, without having to troll to the past?

Is the story from the Daily Rancid correct?

Did they get in touch with Ms McGarry to confirm whether she went to Syria on taxpayers money or not?

Did they retract the story when she eventually de-bunked their slur?

Have you taken the Wings are ***** glasses off?
