    Twenty`s Plenty

    Ticket prices have been spiraling wildly out of control in England for some time now, and I was interested to read about this campaign group called Twenty`s Plenty, where English football supporters are calling for ticket prices for the travelling fan to be capped at £20 across the board.
    Ticket prices are not as high in Scotland, but it is always a consistent gripe of fans up here. Would the proposal to charge away fans less than home fans be a fair one in Scotland? I know we don`t have to travel the same distances as the English supporter, but when you throw in travel costs, the spend you make at the ground itself and a ticket price that the home team keeps, I think such a proposal in Scotland would have some merit.

    seriously though football is far too expensive in comparison to other activities , the blobby family cinema ticket, a gig , a chinese takeaway family for 4 etc etc but its a way of life

    Another campaign for lower football prices! This time just for away fans.

    Are those same people campaigning for reduced rail fares, petrol costs, McDonald's, the away chippy, possibly a bed in a Travel Lodge and any of the other costs associated with a travelling support?

    Errr naw. They accept all these prices are going up so football clubs, the ones they don't support, should reduce their prices!

    Canny see Spock signing up for that!

    So fans should continue to pay over the odds to supplement the lavish lifestyles the players want to sustain?

    Why should I, as a 'supporter', continue to pay £20+ a week to watch C-class players because they demand exorbitant wages and clubs seek to maximise the revenue they can get from fans into the bargain.

    If the train fares are too expensive, I'll find another mode of transport to get me there.

    If the fuel prices are too high I'll question just how necessary my journey is.

    If my favourite restaurant put their prices up (not McDonald's incidentally ) I'll go less regularly.

    If the cost of going to football exceeds how much I'm willing to spend or isn't worth the entrance fee, I won't go back...yet for some reason, this last one attracts ire from the uber fans who then suggest I'm some kind of inferior support. Why should I continue to pay over the odds for football without making a statement/questioning it when I'd adjust all my other behaviours in response to price hikes?
