    Facts that seem untrue

Put a grain of rice on the first square of a chessboard, two grains on the second square, four grains on the third square, and continue doubling the grains until the final square.

By the time you reach it, the amount of rice you would be putting on it would be well over a thousand years' worth of all rice currently produced in a year.

Hannibal Lecter never says 'hello, Clarice' in Silence of the Lambs despite it being an often quoted line. Likewise Darth Vader never says 'Luke, I am your father'. The lines are a simple 'good morning' and just 'I am your father'.

Both are examples of the Mandela effect and there are loads of them in films. Gandalf never says 'Run, you fools', Forrest Gump doesn't say 'life is like a box of chocolates' and the Queen in Snow White never says 'mirror, mirror on the wall'.

A lot of that scene in the prison cell was ad libbed by Hopkins and he genuinely offended Jodie Foster with his lines about sticky fumblings in the back seats of cars and her Virginia accent, this was before she was open about her sexuality and he genuinely scared her as well and thats why her reaction is so genuine.

All the gold ever mined in the history of the world would together fit in 2 Olympic-size swimming pools. To put this into perspective, all the water a person would drink in a typical lifetime would fill up about 10% of an Olympic pool.

Depending on whose estimate you use, something like one quarter to one third of all the gold ever mined has been lost to shipwrecks

You mean he's her brother shirley?

Anyway, her stage name is Laila Morse which is an anagram of mia sorella - Italian for 'my sister'. It was suggested by an Italian actress (Isabella Rosselini IIRC) who Gary was dating at the time.

The closest distance between the PNG and Australian mainlands is about 80 nautical miles (about 150 km). In 1972, several (presumed) Australian islands lay close to the PNG coast. At high tide, the nearest such island (Kussa) was less than one kilometre distant.

There are actually two hydroelectric power stations located at the falls, they supply one quarter of all power to both New York State and Ontario, and as your fact states they can divert water to essentially 'turn off' the falls

The band Chevy Chase was in with Don Fagen and Walter Becker was called The Leather Canary, they were a jazz trio who only played a few gigs in New York in the late 60s, Fagen and Becker obviously went on to form Steely Dan.
