Could Easter Road hold a European Final in 2017

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/33169130

Venue for the European Challenge Cup has not been named yet. This year's final had an attendance of just over 14,000.

Thought you were talking about the Champions League Final for a second there!

With Murrayfield being too big a stadium and Tynecastle too small and run down, Easter Road would appear the most likeliest of the three.

Sure its being hosted on the same weekend as the bigger cup final so don't see it being held at Murrayfield twice. ER would be the obvious choice to hold it! Should hopefully get a decent bit of cash for hosting it there too

This season the egg chasing Challenge Cup final was meant to be at Easter Road with the main one being at Murrayfield.

The English clubs then threatened to boycott the Heineken Cup as they felt too many Scottish/Irish clubs were in it. When they all kissed and made up the final had moved to Twickenham.

The problem is that a game could be in the middle of the playoffs if we are involved. Don't know what that would do to the pitch.

Was at the final against Gloucester at the Stoop in London last month with my lad. It's a good wee stadium, probably similar in capacity to ER but it's a bit older and the stands aren't quite as steep. There was some atmosphere generated by both sets of fans and of course there was no segregation and no overwhelming 'security' for our own sakes - which I don't think we could replicate up here.

The main difference however was, there was a bar below each stand selling proper beer at reasonable prices. Like that's not p*shy lager in plastic bottles a la Murrayfield (or should that be plastic lager in p*shy bottles?) - although I assume that was available. Someone did manage to spill a complete pint over me but by that stage in the proceedings I was rather relaxed about it. The seats we commandeered behind the subs bench made up for it.

It would be a great wee earner for Hibs at the end of a season and good publicity for the club.

P.S. I can recommend the 'River Leven Blonde' by River Leven Ales which I picked in Aldi the other day.
