I detest these things. You never hear the original, classic "Mad World" now, just the Gary Jules whiney versions and cover versions of Gary Jules' whiney version.
I prefer the GJ version. Not a huge fan of TfF but it made me realise there was a brilliant song in there. Roddy Frame did the same job on Jump.

There's very few cover versions that match or exceed the original

My peeve is a particular type of cover version which has become prevalent, ie. take any song, play it on the piano at a quarter of it's original tempo and sing along with an excess of emotion - often out of context with the lyrics. Artistic as f***.

People who take a tiny irrelevant subjective negative and use it to torpedo whole concepts. I suggested to a group of friends that we take a boat trip through Berlin and explained to them that the centre of Berlin was built at a time where the many waterways running through the city were the main means of transport and Berlin was designed to be seen from the water and the architecture makes more sense when you view it from the water. You can spend a nice sunny day meandering through the city on a restaurant boat with either an electronic tour guide or a real one to explain the different sights and folklore whilst enjoying something to eat and a nice glass of wine in good company. One pleb tried to scupper the idea by answering "nah, I don't like wine".

I'm sure we've all been assaulted by the version of Born to be Wild on the Volvo ad. Natalie Taylor is the name of the dippy singer.

The people involved should all be taken out and pelted with used face masks.

I just looked that up, it's horrible.

"Born to be Wild" in the style of an 16 year old trainee nun (or whatever they're called).

Now, if the trainee nun is like those in Warrior Nun then they can sing Born to be Wild Any day. 😉

    A Pedant writes....

Born To Be Wild was originally written as a ballad. Steppenwolf rearranged it.

All these ads that keep popping up on Hibs Net nowadays.
I know it pays the bills but it's getting to be a real nuisance.

I think you don’t get ads if you’re a private member. Worth £10 a year just for that.

Reminds me of something I once heard about adolescence being the period between infancy and adultery.

Noise, there have been a group of people in Pilrig Park since about half 3 today playing music, one of them has a full on drum kit set up in the middle of the Park (I'm not kidding) they are acting like they are at ****ing Coachella

I don't want to be that guy but it's been non stop drumming for 8 hours now and I'm about to go on a murder spree

I'm going for a chat at midnight if it's still on the go

My street has been a total nightmare for noise recently. First of all I have one of those Council basketball/football hybrids outside my bedroom window. No exaggeration when I say I get woken up regularly at 6am by some weirdo who thinks it’s acceptable to bounce a ball that sounds like it’s made of concrete outside peoples windows at that time of the morning. It also goes on all day, and in summer regularly goes on until midnight. Just a constant, doomf doomf doomf, made 100 times worse if you have misophonia.

Next we have Dawson the mad drunk, who passes by at least once, usually twice a day, shouting at the top of his voice. It usually takes him a 45 minutes a time to make it from the top of the street to the bottom. Double that if anyone talks to him.

Then there’s the couple over the road who always have their windows wide open who have unbelievably loud arguments several times a day, I’m working from home and have had to apologise to people I’m speaking to on the phone because they can hear them, that’s with my windows closed.

Last night someone was having a party opposite and some woman was sat at the window shrieking like a banshee for about 6 hours. She wasn’t arguing, just shouting at the top of her voice non stop. I was ready to go and knock her out.
