St. Mirren training ground prank gone wrong

Didn't something similar happen a few years ago at Partick Thistle?
I think the players threw the Manager in the Swimming Pool and he burst his eardrum... and lost all hearing in that ear.

Can throwing a 'spiked pole' at someone really be classed as a prank? What did Thomson expect the outcome to be? Idiotic, and even more so when you consider hes the club captain.

More incredible is that McGinn is their best player.

Remember when St Mirren sacked Danny Lennon and replaced him with Tommy Craig? That worked out well

He says he's shocked and mortified and that it's unbelievable that this sort of thing could happen!!!
He threw a spiked pole at someone, what did he think would happen?
United we stand here....

Awkward one for the BBC to report on given that Thompson is a bit of a golden child on Sportsound/Sportscene
Haven't liked the guy since he viciously aimed an off the ball knee at McPake a couple of seasons back - somewhat tarnished the clean cut image he portrays on TV.

I quite like Steven Thompson, especially his quote about scoring against Rangers, something like "they said I wouldn't celebrate, what a load of rubbish, that felt f***ing amazing".
But honestly, that's in the Kirk Broadfoot/boiled egg in microwave realms of utter stupidity.Last edited by lyonhibs; 27-04-2015 at 06:55 PM.

He never struck me as someone lacking brain cells so I am inclined to accept the foolish prank excuse.

Thompson is a massive female reproductive organ anyway, this just proves it.

Everyone has done daft things that they're mortified about afterwards, but that's a really stupid and irresponsible one. Lucky it didn't hit the lad in the head / eye.

Scottish football could probably produce a top ten bizarre injuries that would rival any other nations!

I would be surprised if he escapes any serious disciplinary proceedings for this.
Why would you throw a spiked pole at someone as part of a prank?
Incredible.

Not hit the target much this season so probably thought aiming at a teammate would be okay...
