    How popular are Scottish teams?

    According to Facebook

    Celtic have 1329118 'likes'
    Rangers 495995
    Aberdeen 59477
    Hibernian 44014
    Dundee United 38608
    Hearts 27298

    Given facebook probably only appeals to anyone under 30 this is quite encouraging and suggests the future is green?

    Either Hearts fans are computer illiterate or perhaps the are not quite as popular and big as they think?

    Interesting lead Celtic seem to have over Rangers.

    Out of interest I took a nosey at twitter follows which follow a slightly different pattern:

    Celtic - 266 k
    Rangers- 170k
    Aberdeen - 38.4k
    Hibs - 29.5k
    Hearts - 35.2k
    Dundee utd - 24.1 k

    Less of a gap between the OF and Hearts have more follows than we do. Would be good if there was a link to explain why this is but I can't see one.

    I also wonder how on earth Celtic got over a million facebook likes? That's quite a gap!

    I think the fact Hibs managed to get all major fan pages to merge was a big factor in the strong following. I'd imagine the other clubs had to build from scratch organically.
