For the first time, Smith, Johnstone, Reilly, Turnbull and Ormond would play as a unit and little did those present realise that the names of those Famous Five would be talked of in decades for the years ahead. For the records Thomson scored for Nithsdale whilst Ormond 2, Turnbull 2, Reilly 2, Mick Gallagher and Smith netted for Hibs.
