Hopefully someone whos played for Man U at the time they brought their golden era through will have a significant impact in this role.

Predecessors. Prior to becoming national coach, Andy Roxburgh predicted all of the issues we are facing 30 years ago and he got chased as well.

There's not many from his era at Man Utd that have done much as managers! Mark Hughes has done ok but nowt special whereas the others such as Bruce, Keane & Robson all come with the good start, get find out & booted out tag!

Hopefully he will do a good job.

He's not going to be a manager though, he's going to be in charge of the youth system. He won't even be doing any coaching.

Great appointment IMO but how much he'll be able to implement his ideas with the archaic set up that is the Sfa remains to be seen. Good luck to him.

One of my favorite players back in the day. Think this is a good appointment for the SFA and hope he does well

Is Bruce no longer managing Hull City?

Good luck to Mc Clair. He's a bright lad and has the right credentials. Seems like a decent appointment

Great appointment for you guys. Need to ask, why did Mark Wotte leave in the first place?

Not allowed to make the changes required. As others have mentioned. Youth coaching has changed but nowhere near enough to make the difference required. Far far too many old school in positions of power in the SFA. The fact that the likes of Malpas are still respected says plenty.
