Hibernian can confirm exciting young midfielder Fraser Fyvie has joined the club after agreeing a six-month deal.
A former Scotland under-21 internationalist, Fyvie returns north after a two-and-a-half year spell with Wigan Athletic.
Now the 21-year-old says he is excited about starting the next chapter of his career with Hibernian.
Fyvie said: “I’m really pleased to sign for Hibs – as soon as I heard about the opportunity it excited me.
“I was keen to head back up to Scotland and Hibs are a club going in the right direction, so everything about this move made sense.
“My first goal will be to earn a place in the starting line-up and then I want to help Hibs to achieve promotion.
“I can’t wait to get started here at Hibs and I’ve been really impressed with the manager’s vision for the future.”
Head Coach Alan Stubbs welcomed the news of Fyvie’s arrival and believes his latest signing will excite the club’s supporters.
Stubbs said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be able to add Fraser to the squad – he is a young player with tremendous quality and potential.
“It’s a great opportunity for Fraser and we’re delighted to give him an opportunity to be a part of what we’re trying to achieve here at Hibernian.
“His arrival underlines our ambitions to kick on; it strengthens our squad and adds extra competition for places which will enable us to finish the season as strong as possible.
“Overall I’m delighted with the business we’ve managed to complete during the January transfer window and Fraser’s arrival is another signing that I believe will excite our fans.”
An exclusive chat with Fraser Fyvie will be aired on Hibs TV later this evening/tomorrow morning where he explains why he chose Hibernian.

This is excellent. The squad needed a compete overhaul after relegation and Stubbs is doing the business. A player with talent whose career has stalled. If he's as good as McGeoch and Allan then we've got a winner.

Tremendous signing. We really seem to have found a manager who is extremely shrewd in the transfer market.

He was a great prospect when at Aberdeen. It'll be a pointless deal unless he can get fit however as i assume the short length of the contract means he'll be off somewhere else come the summer

sorry, but not really exited with this one. he signs for 6 whole months, which takes him into July. all fitba ' players are sunning themselves about then, just before they get fit for the next year of their profession, naw? he takes a couple of weeks at least, to get into the flow of things when he starts and over and above that, he has not played for weeks? what does Hibernian fc get out of this? is it the new Messi .?

He struggled to get a game for a Wigan team that's been on a decline over the past 2 years. I doubt he'd get much in the way offers this summer at the Championship unless he is absolutely brilliant. I think the 6 months is on our end and not his.
Absolutely delighted with this signing though and hope if he does prove himself to be a player still we can get him tied down.

our midfield was actually a little short (as witnessed when Robbo went off last week)
Fyvie is very highly regarded.
Note - we are a 2nd tier Scottish club. The new Messi is probably beyond us.
He might be the new Ginger Messi though.

Like scott allan he hasnt played much. So i would reckon they will both want a year or 18 months playing every week before they risk going back down south.
Griffiths spent 18 months here playing every week before he moved on.

Hibs are a championship club hoping to gain promotion to the top flight via the play off system. We can only offer salaries in relation to our current position with, I would imagine, a promise to re-negotiate these contracts IF we get promoted, when can then offer more.
It's just an unfortunate circumstance of the situation we are in.
