Couldnt lace Ally McLeods boots. In the playing or "laziness" stakes. Ally was my first real Hibs hero. What a player he would have been if only he had run about a bit. Le Tissier was no bad as well tho

Agree 100%. One of the most skilful players ever to play for Hibs

Franz Beckenbauer could never be called "lazy", but he had that ability to appear to simply stroll through football matches never even breaking sweat, and making the game seem so easy.

Check out "Der Kaiser's" haul of medals and honours in the game. One of the greats of world football.

    Carlos Valderrama. Great player though.

John Blackley used to stroll about at the back Beckenbauer-style and against most opposition he got away with it. Sometimes he got caught however and his speed and girth were slow to recover!

Aye and none of you have seen Ally McLeod play - who was white fat and lgenuinely lazy. But still found time to score 99 goals from midfield (without moving a muscle).

However it is a horrible and lazy stereotype to assume black or north african players are lazy.
I saw him play many times and he is still one of my favourite ever players. My avatar was chosen for a good reason.....

McLeod was one of those players who put bums on seats by his sheer ability. There were a few guys like that in those days. I would mention Andy Ritchie of Morton and of course Jim Baxter.

Depends on what defensive duties the manager sets the players when we don't have the ball. If we play with one up front they may well be told to take up a good position, especially if we're going to play on the break. Fans see this as lazy but in reality it's just football.

I just don't think that's true at all and is, dare I say it, political correctness gone mad

As stated on the main thread, Berbatov is the ultimate lazy ******* and he wasn't black the last time I checked. Nor was Riordan.
I just checked google images. I can confirm tha Riordan is still NOT, I repeat NOT black.

Berbatov, certainly has a different look, but again he is not black.

Ally McLeod and Steve Archibald, 2 of our most talented players who didnt believe in wasting their time and energy chasing the ball, their contribution when on the ball was immense.

Bizarre is right. Tevez is one of the most ferocious hard workers in world football.

You'll never prove anything one way or another.
It might be because he didn't fancy playing for 6 months, although that's not the same thing.

An ex St Mirren Aberdeen player called Frank McDougall - quite a bizarre player yet utterly prolific. Not much movement, not much pace, bizarrely looked unfit and overweight all the time but wasn't (maybe the 80's shorts ....he was in fact quite slim but somehow looked like he enjoyed a pie or three).........but what a finisher and talk about a player who was right place right time. Even his goal celebrations bordered on lazy !

Yep, great natural footballer, also a winner. Just never bothered running about much because he could always put the ball where he wanted it to be so why bother running about? Everyone else in the team knew what he could do so they gave him the ball a lot. Outstanding Hibs player of that time and one that people would pay to watch - scored some great free kicks.

One of the reasons he didn't get on with George Best. Handbags at five. My first real Hibby Hero of man crush proportions. If you watched him you'd think he had a built-in navigation system because his head was always down on the ball but he sure as hell knew where the goal was.

This still brings tears to my eyes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVEcbvrxHQ0

A midfielder with 164 goals from 461 appearances - and that fool Lawrenson still called him lazy!

Very few players can have such a collection of great goals in their career. As a natural talent he was right up there, though he didn't really do running about :-D

    I agree 100%

Brilliant player but many people around me called him lazy cos he expected every ball to be played right to his feet, wouldn't run for it.

But when he got the ball, it was a joy to watch.
Alcohol IS the answer, but I forget the question...
