    I met him last year just after he had his voicebox removed due to cancer.

    An absolute gentleman who, despite what he had just been through, never had a smile of his face the whole time I was in his company.

    A real icon of football broadcasting in this country.

    Jeez I feel like I'm getting old. Heading back to the car after a Hibs game to listen to the classified results at 5 then read the match report in the Pink was the Saturday ritual. Good days.
