Thread: Queen's

    Queen's

The main warm up event for Wimbledon started today and although Andy Murray doesn't start until Wednesday thanks to his bye through to the second round, there was some British interest today.

Dan Evans and James Ward both got through to round two with Evans in particular having a very impressive victory against Jurgen Melzer.

Dan Cox also played today but he lost to Adrian Mannarino.

Evans now plays Kevin Anderson and Ward plays Grigor Dimitrov whilst Murray's first match on grass this year will be against Paul-Henri Mathieu.

Both James Ward and Dan Evans exited the tournament today.

Evans was comprehensively beaten by Kevin Anderson 6-2 6-3 whilst Ward ran Grigor Dimitrov close in the opening set before eventually losing 7-5 6-3.

Now Andy Murray is the sole remaining British player left in the draw and he plays Paul-Henri Mathieu tomorrow.

He now plays Radek Stepanek in the last 16.

Can't imagine he'll face too many issues in that match, although Stepanek is unique in that he's one of the few serve-and-volleyers left in the game and he's also a former semi finalist at Queen's.

Murray to win again in straight sets.

Stepanek takes the match 6-2 in set 2.

    Poor performance from Murray.

Terrible result for Murray although I don't see it having a massive bearing on Wimbledon.

I see Nadal's also made an early exit in Halle, losing in straight sets to Dustin Brown.

Tomorrow's final at Queen's will be between Grigor Dimitrov and Feliciano Lopez after Dimitrov defeated Stanislas Wawrinka and Lopez beat Radek Stepanek.

In the other Wimbledon warm up event in Halle, the final will be between Roger Federer and Alejandro Falla.

Federer is going for his seventh title at Halle. I can't see him not winning it tomorrow to be honest but that's probably put the curse on him now!

Grigor Dimitrov beat Feliciano Lopez in three tiebreak sets to lift the title at Queen's.

Roger Federer won the title at Halle for the seventh time after beating Alejandro Falla 7-6 7-6.

The 'Rally for Bally' is on right now at Queen's with the Murray brothers and Victoria Azarenka, amongst others, appearing for a great cause.

It's on the BBC red button if anyone's interested.
