Cant agree about the 1st 2, thought it was pretty even if not edged by froch

    Boom

Cracking punch, Groves would never have recovered from that.

    Froch experience showed tonight.

Difficult to judge until seeing again. Jusy thought Groves was a bit tidier in 2 pretty tense rounds.

I've seen all kinds of scores. World Boxing News had Groves up by 1 round, Richie Woodhall had Groves by 1, Steve Bunce had Froch by 1.

    All irrelevant now though.

Indeed - FWIW, I had the fight as a tie prior to the KO.

Watched the fight in Mathers at the west end, very underwhelmed. A bunch of mouthy young weegie fuds just made it even worse.

I thought Froch was edging it but not by much, the fight was definitely looking like it was swinging in Groves' favour though. Some punch to finish it, I don't think anyone would have stayed up after getting hit like that.

There was something good about seeing the ageing champion putting a young upstart in his place.

That was a champions punch that! His swansong will be Chavez in Vegas next year.

I think he might take the DeGale fight now that he is his mandatory for the IBF.

Whilst I doubt that would see 80 000 interested again, it might drum up enough interest to fill the City Ground in Nottingham, a long time ambition for Froch. Tough fight though but another big pay day.

If he wins that as IBF and WBA Champion he's bringing a lot to the table in the US. He could then finish his career in Vegas with either a rematch with Ward or a fight with Chavez jr.

As for Groves I don't think he comes out of this too badly. He's matched a world class operator for most of 2 fights. He's signed a deal with Sauerland Promotions so reckon he'll go after the European belt to get a few wins and build his confidence again. A bit more experience and he'll get another chance at a world title imo.

I don't think that fight will happen as it'll be a miss-match. While not doubting DeGale has talent, he isn't in the same league as Froch and Froch could quite easily give him a battering.

A rematch between DeGale and Groves somewhere down the line is probably more likely.

That being said, Froch is running out of opponents and if the DeGale fight is the only one on the table then it might happen.

I wouldn't rule out a Froch/Ward unification rematch either (maybe in Vegas?)

Would be amazed if this happens, the Froch v Groves rematch only happened due to the unprecedented interest and demand from the public. If there's one thing I've learnt whilst watching boxing since I was a nipper, it's that money talks, not so much on the fighters part (Froch could walk away now and never be able to spend all his money), but the promoters and TV people, they make the fights, they follow the cash, always.

    Indeed.

I didn't realise because Froch has faced his last 2 IBF mandatories he doesn't have to take the DeGale fight but can still keep his belt.

With that being the case I agree there is no chance that fight will happen.
