I would rather Steve Marsella unearthed a gem of his own rather than spending a bigger wage on the likes of Goodwillie. His wage may be subsidized but he would still cost us a bit.....

Even with Blackburn paying the lions share DG is still costing UTD near 5k a week. Gamble that has not paid off IMO.

How long does Thomson have left on his contract? If it's only 6 months it's not going to cost an arm and a leg to buy him out. Subtract that from what we could maybe afford to offer a decent contract to a striker and we could get someone half decent. In any case, Thomson might be so cheesed off with Butcher that he would be willing to find a new club in January. If he wants to hang around in the SPFL, I'm sure he could find a club who could use the undoubted skill that Butcher doesn't appear to appreciate. Imagine him coming back to haunt us.
