Sounds like the earlier reports were a bit premature and he's actually in a pretty bad way.
Doesn't sound too good right now.

Apparently the type of injury he likely had has a period of consciousness until a sudden deterioration later. So the early reports may well have been accurate.
Not sounding good at all for Schumi. Hopefully he pulls through.

Reminds me a bit of the Christopher Reeves accident. A few hours after it happened his spokesman said he was sitting up reading a paper, laughing and joking. It obviously soon became clear it was far more serious than that.
Hope Schumacher makes a full recovery. Never liked him on the track, his will to win at all costs was ferocious. However off the track he seems like a good guy and his charity work is phenomenal, it's estimated he gave in excess of $50M away during the last 4 years off his career, usually to causes that aren't in the public eye.PM Awards General Poster of The Year 2015, 2016, 2017. My friend brother had a very similar accident at the same slopes and was taken to the same hospital a year ago. He was in a coma for 2 weeks (chemically induced initially), but, thankfully, has now made a full recovery. Actually, he is heading out there in the next few days to the same resort.
It was so scary for my friend and her family. The Drs were great though as they deal with this kind of thing so much.
