Hi folks, my Wifes car has been in the garage since January after she was involved in a crash and she is finally getting it back tomorrow, the car had been due its MOT and someone has recommended Fixter who collect your car, MOT it and return it to your door
Has anyone used them before ? Reviews look positive

Have to say I hadn’t heard of this service before reading this thread. I went onto trustpilot and started reading reviews as it sounds like something I would be interested in. Certainly lots of 5 star positive reviews but some rather disturbing 1star reviews also. It seems they hire freelance drivers to pick up and return your car who then take them to whichever garage the MOT is arranged with. One reported their car returned with fuel missing smelling of smoke radio messed with and after declining certain repairs their car was passed anyway. Another reported getting a ULEZ charge after their car was returned. I guess it depends on how much faith you put in reviews, to a lot of drivers just getting that extra year MOT without major expense is maybe worth it.

The garage pretty much gave my Wife text updates on the progress of work (if any) they send a link of work needing done and costs with a yes proceed option or a no option, when you are satisfied with the planned work and cost they send another text with their progress updates
When the work is complete they contact Fixter who in return arrange a suitable car drop of time or location if different from pick up point and then they drop the car off and hand you your keys, pretty seamless service which suited my Wife as she was able to use her pool car to attend to patients rather than dropping her car off and having to jump on and off buses

Sounds like it all went well out of interest did your car pass without needing any repairs and what was the mot fee?

Cheers
I wonder though how they can make any money for a car that does not need any work and passes with no faults.Last edited by Alfiembra; 03-05-2024 at 08:42 PM.
