Cannot wait until Chvrches 2nd album is out next week. One of my favourite bands in recent years.
Have you heard much of Prides? Been following them since 2012 or so

And it definitely doesn't disappoint. Doomed has quickly become one of my favourite tracks. Completely broody track, still with the element of heaviness but loads of samples and electronics which sets the tone for the rest of the album.

To me, their best work yet. Never thought I'd hear a saxophone solo in BMTH.

Oli's voice has dramatically improved on this album. I can this year becoming massive for them. Complete game-changer album, might just see a few more metal bands change to a softer, more accessible approach.

Get that parkway drive CD ordered also! 2 more new songs released and they are very heavy.
After the first couple of listens, I couldn't have disagreed with you more. I absolutely hated it and viewed it as nothing but a sell-out venture, seeking to appease a new, more commercial fanbase. Whilst I still believe that to an extent, they deserve credit for what they've put together. I persisted with it and gave it a few more listens though and I agree that It is a pretty spectacular album and although I miss the heavy sound, I can appreciate from a musical perspective just what they've done.

What they've done isn't a 'game-changer' though for me. Heavy bands have softened before and continue to do so - granted, their journey is probably more pronounced than some before them but I can't see it shifting the landscape. I think bands like Slipknot, A7x, who have obtained commercial success and recognition without sacrificing their heavy sound is an example that what BMTH have done is not necessary to achieve accessibility.

I still dislike some of the songs on the album and find that Follow You in particular would be equally at home on a One Direction record as it would on a BMTH record. Infact, I find myself singing "Royals" by Lorde after the opening drum beat!

Arcane Roots - Heaven and Earth EP - 5 songs but deary me, they're good.

Fightstar - Behind the Devil's Back - they probably released the best songs as singles before the album came out but I like it - quite Deftones-ey in places. "Sink with the Snakes" is excellent.

I know it's not new now (released in October) but I've found myself listening to Zipper Down by the Eagles of Death Metal. Extraordinary album.

I really hope that at some point they can be remembered as something other than the band where tens of their fans were massacred by terrorists because they're an outstandingly good fun times rock and roll band. Seen them a couple of times and always entertaining.

Went to see them in Southampton at the start of the month and they were just excellent. Watching them relive their hell in that interview the other day was heartbreaking. Like you, I hope they move beyond this and get recognition for just how good a band they are!

I've mentioned it before but I play in a band called Armstrong, we've just released our debut EP. If anyone is interested there's some links and some of the reviews below. Should have an Edinburgh gig at the beginning of the year.

    Armstrong - Thursday Night Club*
    https://youtu.be/BBXieIOyUrE

Armstrong - You Are Not Alone
    https://youtu.be/vEDgFgrFbvg

"There’s nothing more exciting about new music exploration than the realization that a track or sound immediately suggests there’s something truly special at play. *Glasgow indie rockers Armstrong definitely have lots of commercial potential as well as being the kind of band who can have a huge fanbase, and will judging from the musical sample on their debut EP." scottishfiction.co.uk

"Armstrong is a band with a refreshing gift of genuine talent and the potential to bring their take on alternative rock anthems to a wider audience, especially thanks to their well-packaged fun and infectiously catchy songs"*
    Ravechild.co.uk*

"Armstrong’s upbeat music is infectious and it is impossible to listen to their music with a frown on your face"
    toxiconline.co.uk*

"This record and Armstrong as a band frankly are an absolute breath of fresh air. Don’t me wrong they aren’t reinventing the wheel here; they have just put new tyres on it and made it run a hell of a lot more smoothly. In a world where indie bands are everywhere these guys have come up with a formula to make themselves stand out. Who would have thought great vocals, melodies and song writing would result in a great record!?" themusicaloutcast.com*

"Armstrong have managed to build a constantly engaging and brilliantly entertaining mini-release that is bound to win them fans. It’s an impressive foundation for a blossoming talent, and it’s certainly an EP worth experiencing."*

Find myself unable to stop listening to PVRIS's debut album, White Noise. Bit "dancier" than I'm used to but it's pretty damned good.
