Mine was an Amstrad PCW8256. Lining Lord Sugar's pockets.

I can remember how excited I was at the time of collecting it from Curry's or Dixon's in 1985 and paid something like £400 at the time. However remember those computers had no Windows operating system (only DOS) or hard drive. Floppy discs could be purchased but they had less memory than my granny. Oh and the printer that came as part of the package was noisier than a jumbo jet.
Happy days.

2nd hand Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48k moving up to a 128k later. Also had an Acorn Electron before moving on to an Atari STFM 520 then converting that to an STE 1040 by installing a new motherboard. Quite a job as I had to cut extra holes in the plastic casing for the new phono sockets etc.
Happy days indeed

I'll take your Spectrum, and I'll raise you.......a ZX81. Hard work.
Still got it, though don't know if it would work on a modern telly.
Andeven if it did, I don't know that I could be ***ed with the footering.

C64 then my first "proper" computer was a Packard Bell 486 SX. BIG mistake. Never had a PB since. It is actually quite fun comparing specs to today's specs. I remember arguing with the guy that I wanted the graphics memory upgraded to 1 mb and him telling me this was ludicrous as nobody needed that amount of video ram. 28 mb hard drive. All this for about the same as I paid last year for an i7 Alienware. Enough to make you greet.

ZX81 for me too, then along came the ZXSpectrum - in colour!!!
Try playing Daley Thomsons's Decathlon and running the 100 metres with no joystick, mega sore fingers from hitting the 2 running buttons.
Favourite game had to be Jet Set Willie.

Had a ZX81, ZX Spectrum, Vic20 and a C64 at various times.
There's a wee shop in Amsterdam that specialises in 1980's computers and games. They sell for a fortune!

What was the computer before the C64? Think it was something like the C16 or something like that. Had them all growing up. Commodore's, Spectrums, Atari ST

Spectrum 48k upgraded to 128k and proper keyboard
Had loads of others since but nothing compares to the thrills of playing classics as Manic Miner, Kick Start, Jetpac etc
Downloaded an emulator a few years back which had all the games. They're still great gameplay but the graphics are sooo bad. Mind you as much as COD and GOW are stunning to look at they dont give me nearly as much fun as the speccy did at the time.

A Commodore 16. I still have it in my attic but need to replace one of the cables before I can use it again.

When all the other kids where getting the spectrum I decided I wanted to be different and ended up getting this.................

Tell you what - I loved it and with games like this and this I was certain it was the future.
Ah to be young and innocent againLife should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, vodka in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Zx spectrum for me, played jet set willy for hours but my favourite game was Battlecars. It came with a piece of paper you laid over the keyboard to show you which keys to press, high tech or what. It was the days before Game and Gamestation so me mam took me up to Woolies at Tollcross to get it. Oh happy days! God rest her soul.

A spectrum 128k+2 for me. Was cutting edge as it had the built in tape deck!
Used to buy games from the 1.99 range at 'Graphix' on Leith Walk. No one seems to remember that place! Remember staying up all night playing the original Football Manager. Some things never change!

An Amstrad for me with Soccer Boss being the game to be played!
Someone once told me that hard work wouldn't kill me.
I thought: "Hell, why take the chance"!
