    review of season 2010/2011

    August 2010
Hibeernian started their 2010-11 season full of beans on Aug 15th with a less than convincing 2-1 home win against Cameron Toll. This was followed by a 3-1 away defeat to Westside in the midweek.
The next game proved to be awkward. Hibs were playing Rangers at Easter Road in the new SPL season and a large number of the Beers players opting to attend that instead of their scheduled fixture v Ultimo Goccia. An emergency goal keeper was signed and a couple of the guys decided to play at the last minute. The Beers managed a comfortable 8-1 win.

    September 2010
September saw a slightly better batch of results. After a 1-0 defeat to FC of Edinburgh, due to an uncharacteristic lapse of concentration with a pass back which gave the opponent all 3 points, the Beers managed two great results with a 9-2 home win against Brunswick and an 8-2 away win against Craigroyston, the latter game being a tad unsavoury with two Craigroyston players and one Hibeernian player being shown the red card for a scramash in the middle of the park.

    October 2010
October brought the first of the cup tournaments and the Beers were humbled with an 8-2 defeat to Livingston UTD in the Scottish cup, a 3-2 home defeat to AC Midlothian in the league and a 4-1 defeat to East Craigs in the Association cup. The only solace was a 4-1 league triumph over Elm Edinburgh.
The signs were there that just maybe Hibeernians first season in the EADSAFA was going to be a touch more demanding than first thought and eyes were cast around to find some players who may be able to make a difference.

    November 2010
with the snow proving to be a complete wash out for almost all sporting activity in November and December only one game was fulfilled by Hibeernian in this month. A hastily re-arranged game from the Sunday to the Wednesday evening at Dalkeith (due to the Hibs V Hearts Derby being held on the Sunday) thankfully saw Hibeernian dispose of Craigroyston in the David Temple Memorial cup with an 7-2 demolition.

    December 2010
December saw absolutely no competaive football whatsoever but instead a selection of five and seven aside sessions were booked when possible at the Indestructable Sighthill Power League to keep the boys ticking over.

Hibeernian signed new boy Gav Milne in this month.

    January 2011
The end of January at last saw enough clear weather to start playing football again.
The Beers managed an 8-2 win against Cameron Toll in the David Temple cup, but unfortunately drawn against a first division side in the next round a week later. Hibeernian hosted Longstone in a game that they all but dominated, but as was becoming a habit, they failed to convert the performance into success and ended up on the wrong end of a 4-2 score line and out the cup

    February 2011
February saw a downturn in Hibeernians fortunes. After coming back from 3-1 down with just nine men, the beers unfortunately exited the Div2 League cup with a 4-3 away loss to FC of Edinburgh in what was a highly controversial game. A week later , and again after dominating the match, Hibeernian found themselves losing to Sparta 2-1 in the league.
Out of all 3 domestic cup tournaments and the Scottish, the Beers season looked almost dead an buried with the likeliness of a mid table position being the most expected of league finishes for the season.

    March 2011
The sun, the warmth and the results retuned in March and saw the arrival of 2 more new players. Defender Callum Andrews and striker Ross Jannetta, who had featured for Hibeernian the previous year until an injury meant he was unable to sign, were added to the ranks.
A 4-2 win against Ultimo Goccia, a 3-2 win away to Albion and a hard fought 3-2 win away to Sparta saw Hibeernian pick up some points and keep themselves in touching distance with the top of the pack.

    April 2011
with the lighter nights now here, and a huge backlog of fixtures to catchup on, The Beers found themselves playing two games per week.
Successive wins of 6-1 against Brunswick, 3-1 against Westside, 3-2 against FC of Edinburgh and 5-1 against Cameron Toll saw the Beers clock up 21 points with 7 wins on the trot. Unfortunately, that's where the good run ended as 3 successive loses against Albion, Elm and AC saw them plummet again to 5th place in the table.
With many teams from the divisions above folding, this left the association shorthanded and looking promising for a couple of extra places up for promotion.

    May 2011
The final game of the season was at home to Craigroyston. Two previous wins, one in the league and one in the cup saw the Beers record two victories, 8-2 and 7-2 respectively but with both fixtures seeing a bit of bad blood. The Beers set out to nullify former striker Ross Duncan, now playing alongside his mates at Craigy but unfortunately a bit of bad decision making by the manager in going with 3 at the back saw Hibeernian go 2-0 down inside 15 minutes. The manager quickly reverted back to the favoured 4-4-2 and the Beers went onto record an impressive 8-3 victory.
The Beers finished the season on 39 points and gaining promotion with a 5th place finish.

    Season 2010-2011 summary.
Hibeernians first season in competative football was very much a steep learning curve for the players and managing staff. Season 2010/2011 saw the release of many players all of whom were instrumental players at some point in the Hibeernian history.
    Danny Woods (co founder)
    Sean McCrae (founding member)
    Pete Mein (founding member)
    Lewis Nodzac (goalkeeper)
    Chris Murray (founding member)
    Pete Moredant
    Nick Waterman
    Steven Fenton (club captain)
Ross Duncan (one time top scorer)

As it turned out the newly formed 2nd Div was the strongest with all brand new teams finishing the season whilst the two divisions above each had numerous clubs fold.

Player of the year honours for the season were awarded to:
Golden Boot: Lewis Glancy, 24 goals
    Managers POY: Grant Beattie
    Players POY: Grant Beattie
    Golden egg award: Josh Young.

interesting to note, all the teams above us except westside gave away more goals.
only 4 wins difference between 1st and 6th.
less than 6 goal difference between 1st and 6th
