    French Toast

    How do you eat yours?
Madness, as you know, is a lot like gravity. All it takes is a little push.

Good to see you gave yourself time to think before answering your own question

When I have it I eat it plain but I'm not overly keen any more.

People who call it 'eggy bread' are without a shadow of a doubt worse than Adolf Hitler. They'll be amongst the first to the wall after the revolution.

See also: people who call tomato sauce/ketchup 'red sauce'

    I concur wholeheartedly.

I take my french toast with an even spreading of brown sauce at mine or fruity sauce at home, keeps it interesting.

    Just a touch of salt.

    Sauce ruins it IMO!

And those who substitute 'have' with 'of'

And as for French Toast - with lashings of cheese!

I dont like fried bread, I dont see the point in it either. It's not as good as just normal regular toast.

How do you get it crispy? It always seemed to be when I was a kid but I can't seem to manage it myself.

I make French toast by dipping a jam sandwich (no butter) into the eggs, and then serve with crispy bacon, and tomato sauce. I think this may be a Canadian recipe.

The Canadian one I know is when the bread is soaked in a cinnamon custard and sauteed in butter and served with Maple Syrup

That's got me going. Tbh, I don't know anyone outside of my family who makes french toast with raspberry jam, but most of them have lived in Canada at some point, so I just assumed that's where the idea came from.

My first choice is branston pickle (small chunks)

    Second choice is tomato sauce

Third is sliced tomato and salt

Sometimes I make a plate full and have a selection of all the above

Less egg, more heat. Just as it comes for me.

re fried bread - my son had never had it and went on a work experience week with the army and came back raving about the breakfasts including fried bread! I had a right face on me becasue they introduced him to such unhealthy stuff!
