    Experimental Cooking

Anyone ever successfully chucked some ingredients together and been pleasantly surprised by the outcome?

I just made a batch of Jamaican Jerk Dumplings - self raising flour, jerk seasoning and water, mixed into a dough.

Break into small pieces and fry in sunflower/vegetable oil until golden.

    Magic!

Last weekend I didn't have much in the house to eat at all and couldnt be bothered to go to the shops.

    Easty Eggs Surprise

    Ingredients:
    Olive oil, a splash.
    Butter, knob of.
Out of date ham, 3 slices.
    Eggs, 3.
Parmesan cheese (quite possibly also out of date), some.
    Chilli flakes, a sprinkle.
Tomato puree, a random squeezed amount.
    Freshly ground pepper.

Put the olive oil in a wok (the frying pan needed washed) over a medium heat. Chop the ham up into bits and throw in the wok. Add the butter and when melted threw in the whisked eggs and parmesan cheese. Once its started to look ready add the tomato puree and a sprinkle of chilli flakes. Cook for a further 3-4 mins and then cover in pepper.

    mmmmm.

Not really experimental cooking as such but cocktail gherkins dipped into a 3 minute boiled egg are magic.

Also brown rice, Chinese 5 spice and a tin of tuna mixed up and eating straight from the pan works pretty well.

A slice of Stornoway black pudding lightly fried, cut into strips and served with mozzarella (also in same sized strips) served on a bed of wild rocket, with a poached egg on top, and balsamic reduction.

    Magic!

It goes beautifully with that dish - I don't view the additional ingredients as messing about, more complementing
