    Giant pandas on their way

Whatever you think of zoos I think this demonstrates Edinburgh Zoo is one with a worldwide reputation for the work it does in ‘saving’ endangered species.

    Well done Edinburgh Zoo!

Edinburgh Zoo is to be the home of two giant pandas after a deal was signed today between the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland and the Chinese Wildlife Conservation Association.

Tian Tian and Yangguang are a breeding pair born in 2003, and a date still has to be agreed for their arrival but Chinese representatives will visit the zoo this week to discuss the transfer. The pandas will be the first to live in the UK for 17 years.

Agree with you there, Jack. Nice to see the zoo confirming a double swoop on a pre-contract!

Hopefully the zoo will take pointers from the zoo in Washington DC, who have a cracking panda programme.
They've only gone and done it! They've only gone and won the Scottish Cup! What kept you, Hibs?!

Brill. I've never seen a real panda.

    They taste like chicken though.

When will they arrive at the zoo?

Yet to be confirmed I believe. One would imagine given the financial dire straits the zoo is in that they'll be rushing it through for spring/summer...
