Not usually one for RIP threads but Leslie Nielsen was one of my favourite actors. Airplane! was a revolution the first time I saw it and I don't think I can ever forget the marching band scene in the Naked Gun.
The whole Police Squad series is fantastic and highly underrated.
RIP Enrico Palazzo.

Woman: Who are you, and how did you get in here?
Leslie: I'm a locksmith and.......I'm a locksmith
A genius - probably the best deadpan comic actor ever. RIP

Very sad news.
Wasn't really able to ever reach the heights of Police Squad, Airplane and Naked Gun in his later career but undoubtedly one of the finest comedy actors. I also saw him in the one man play 'Clarence Darrow' many moons ago and he was a very underrated 'straight' actor as well.

Does anyone remember when he was in "Due South"? I loved that show when I was wee and remember watching that episode laughing so much at that episode.
Here's a wee clip from that episode, still makes me giggle all these years later.

I have only just seen this news. Gutted
No matter how many times you watch Airplane or Naked Gun they still raise the laughs like the first time you watched them.

In his early career he played a lot of bit parts in various Columbo's. It's strange to watch him and then think of the comedy genius he become.
RIP.

Watched a bit of Airplane! tonight and just laughed (as usual).
The jive talkers - just magic.
The kids on the plane...."Cream?"
"No I prefer mine black. Like my men"
And a whole heap more.......

This. I watched The Naked Gun last night and when he exits the plane the baggage handlers are throwing the luggage all over the runway. Frank gets back to his car, picks up a bag which is sitting next to it looks at it wondering where it came from and pops it on the back seat.

Can't believe I'm just noticing this now; it feels like I've just been booted in the gut.
I can still remember the day when my dad first introduced me to Leslie Nielsen through the Naked Gun films.
Even in later films such as the scary movie ones he was absolutely hilarious.
RIP.

I didn't realise he was so old but of course he had a considerable drama career before he made it in comedy.
He ranks high for me along with Woody Allen, Gary Shandling, Jerry Seinfeld and Mel Brooks as an ironic American comic/actor/writer.
There's not that many of them about.
