    Hatton

    Caught taking coke.

If you've seen the video it all looks very staged by someone close to him. He looks like he's at home and it's hidden in something on the bunker.

    Bizarre.

It does make you wonder again about the NOTW's motivation and tactics. It's one thing to use an entrapment approach to expose match fixing in cricket, but there can be little or no motivation or public interest argument for stories such as this Hatton story. Yet there are still plenty of morons who lap it all up

Seems he'll be embracing a new career as a comedian once he finishes rehab.

He seems to think he has a few good lines.
Madness, as you know, is a lot like gravity. All it takes is a little push.

Just been confirmed the board of control have stripped Ricky of his fighters license. Hatton Promotions is allowed to continue promoting fights as they employ a substantial number of people and the board felt it wasn't in anyones interest to suspend their right to organise and promote fights at this time.

The whole Hatton situation doesn't surprise me at all really. The number of fighters who have gone off the rails sice retiring is staggering. Sugar Ray Leonard, Mike Tyson and Joe Calzaghe are 3 notable fighters who used cocaine after retiring, Frank Bruno obviosuly had his mental health problems, Jake LaMotta, Evander Holyfield, Roberto Duran, Arturo gatti and closer to home Ken Buchanan are just a few notable fighters who have had money, substance, alcohol or mental health problems. I think a lot has to do with both the training and the mental strain of getting in a ring. Anyone who has never strapped on or laced up a pair of boxing gloves can never truly understand how punishing it is trying desperately to sweat down a few extra pounds to make the weight. The training is lonely, painful and very, very tough. On entering the ring, boxing is one of the few sports that just before you start you get a very strong sense of your own mortality. The mental strain this causes is tough but it's addictive and when it suddenly stops it's very difficult to deal with. With Ricky it's probably magnified because of the extraordinary fanbase he had. Having 20 000 follow him to Vegas twice, 50 000 in Manchester turning up just to see him and then suddenly it's gone, must be a hell of a thing to come to terms with. Add to that the feelings of guilt he apparently felt for his losses to Mayweather and Pacquaio and it's little wonder he's in a bit of a mess at the moment.
