    So pre cup final beers?
I'm flying up in the morning and back down in the evening so I'll be pretty much straight to and from Hampden.

Doubt it'll ever catch on in a BrewDog bar but there's a definite niche for a beer bar that shows sports!

Shame, you still moving to Glasgow? If so, before or after the final?
Still moving (assuming one of the many estate agents I've emailed/called ever gets back in touch to allow me to view a house!) but it'll be mid-late April!

You should come up to Glasgow for the cup final and kill 2 birds with one stone. Spend the Saturday looking at some houses, areas you might fancy living in and then the Sunday at the final.

Went to look at one just on the outskirts yesterday (Croy, 14 minutes on the train to Queen Street) - was a lovely house and area but it's on the line that's about to be ****ed up with the electrification for 6 months so a 30 minute commute then becomes over an hour commute til the end of August!

Think I'd rather be on the outskirts somewhere and commute in based on what I HAVE managed to look at so far. You don't get comparatively much for your money in the city!

Yeah you definitely get much more for your bucks if you move out from the city. Would need to keep in mind though that your going to have problems with any trains that use the Queen St line so will no doubt effect a lot of the areas your looking. Out of interest, why Croy. Have you got family & friends there?

A few friends have family there and recommended it as a good place to commute into Glasgow - 14 minutes to Queen Street, cheap rail travel and a nice, quiet area with nice houses. Not an area I knew anything about but thought I'd have a look.

Have a viewing at a property today just off Great Western Road so complete contrast!

Probably to nobody's surprise, Peyton has decided to retire.

A superb athlete and ambassador for the sport - it's been a joy to watch him play in this era of the NFL and his stats speak for themselves. Hope he goes on to do something with commentary or analysis as he's always good to listen to talking about the game.

Well my Giants are clearly going for it, boom or bust time for Jerry Reese. $85mil over 5 years with $52mil guaranteed for Olivier Vernon from Miami!

I'm not a Peyton Manning fan. He's certainly articulate, but I'm not sure I'd say he was a superb athlete (have you seen him try to run? ), or ambassador for the sport.

He's a regular season stats machine, no doubt, but when the chips were down he failed time and again. His second superbowl was absolutely nothing to do with his performances (he was utterly rubbish all season) and everything to do with the brilliant Denver defence (as well as the Carolina offence being rubbish in the superbowl).

When everything was going perfectly to plan and he had good protection he could throw the ball and rack up the passing yards and touchdowns, but when he came up against properly elite defences who hit him hard and who forced him out of the pocket then he was useless and threw interceptions at crucial times. Of the QB's I've seen since I've been watching there are at least 7 that I would have above Manning, based on who I would rather have in my team when the chips are down at the business end of the season. (Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Roethlisberger, Favre, Warner, Marino)

He was, by all accounts, a bad loser who refused to give any reps in practice to his back-ups, effectively rendering them useless meaning he was pretty much undropable, even when he was playing rubbishly. This attitude led to the Colts having an utterly abysmal season the year he was injured because their back-up QB's were so terrible.

His treatment of the victim in his sexual harassment scandal while at college could perhaps be excused if he'd grown out of it, but he continued it for years afterwards, slagging her off in his autobiography.

I've not even mentioned the HGH....

Tbh I think Miami will be fairly happy with their trading on defence so far. Vernon out on a ludicrous wage and Kiko Alonso, Mario Williams and Byron Maxwell in.

On another note I see Johnny Football has been released by Cleveland.

Three very good acquisitions on defence.

I totally agree with Sergios assessment of Peyton Manning above. A fair weather QB and always seemed like a bit of a dick, frankly.

Anyone planning to attend any games this season now that the schedules are out? I'm in Orlando in October so going to take in the Bucs v Falcons game on the Thursday night and potentially the Dolphins v Jets game as well - although that's the day before we fly home and it's a fair drive from Orlando but would be a great game to see. Can't wait to go to and NFL game for the first time.

  31. #8160
I'm going to be in Orlando in October, but there's no games on while I'm there and I'm not sure my wife would sanction me going to a game during our family holiday considering she's organised for me to go to Oxford (Mississippi) in November to see the Egg Bowl (Ole Mis vs Mississippi State football game) and have thanksgiving in Memphis.
