Is that the patriots won it?
If they can keep possession for 2 plays.

That is truly the worst thing I've seen in my time as a football fan. Truly truly mystifying.

I'm honestly stunned...you have Marshawn Lynch inside the 2 yard line with 2 downs and 2 TO's to win the game and you throw it?!?!

Absolutely and totally elated after what was probably the best Superbowl I've watched!!!

Commiserations Bollah/Calvin - there was really nothing to separate us other than that silly call.

Wilson will get plenty of more rings throughout his career - he's an exceptional young QB.

Well done New England, and the pats guys on here. Commiserations to the Seahawks fans both teams were Awsome and there was little between them. Most exiting Super Bowl in the last few years anyway, probably longer.

To pick that play, over handing it off to Lynch, of all the running backs in the league. I'd fire whoever was responsible for that.

Congratulations sir. It was a fantastic game. It's a shame that it was settled by a mistake but over the piece I can't begrudge the Patriots the victory.

I'm off to cry myself to sleep.

Sherman's face though, even I found that funny.

I don't watch much American football, but that last play seems like it'd be the equivalent of being 30 seconds away from winning the World Cup and then walking into your own box and picking up the ball.

It was probably the equivalent of missing an open goal to win the cup.

they have the best RB for that situation and they chose to pass, I have no idea why.

Me and my friend both pretty much shouted at the tv when Lynch moved away from the backfield, neither of us could believe they weren't giving it to him. What a ridiculous play call! Something that whoever called that play is going to regret for a long time.

Thats what I was thinking - unbelievable decision to throw it at that point in time.
Great game really enjoyed it - the last couple of mins of the game made for brilliant viewing

    YAS! World champions!

Another hard fought win, well played the seahawks. That catch was unreal but finally our defence turned up for a big play.

With 4 hours to reflect, that was a truly great game. For all the talk of Brady vs the LOB, we racked up almost 400 yards of offense. Wilson was incredible second half. And then Brady came back again. The goalline call was the stupidest thing ive seen in 30 years watching the sport, but whos to say if we hand it to the Beast, Lynch doesnt get stopped on the goalline anyway? Well done the Patriots.

I have four hours of work this morning and then im planning on going back to bed for the afternoon. Yawn.

Listening to a podcast this morning at work whilst trying to hide my face so I can have a sleep...

Apparently Lynch had ran from the 1 yard line 5 times this season, resulting in 1 TD, 2 runs for 0 yards and 2 runs for a loss. It was still the wrong call though....

He was mostly ineffective on short yardage against our run D all night too but his TD earlier came on short yardage.

I agree with Bollah, it's one of the strangest calls I've seen in my time watching the sport though after seeing something similar happen to us against the Giants (with Manningham!) I was glad we weren't punished for insane bad luck again!

Been a long time since I was taken on such a roller coaster ride watching a game and I don't think I managed more than a couple of hours sleep - thankfully I'm working from home but I can see me crashing this afternoon.

I've been a fan of American Football since it first arrived on Channel 4 years & years ago .... I'm a Jets fan

That's probably the best Superbowl I've seen ........ ended by the dumbest call I have ever seen by a coach, the Seahawks fans must be in meltdown .... WTF was Pete Carroll thinking !!!

Even if he was trying to throw a curve ball by passing when running was the obvious play, at least go for it on 3rd down, to have 3 chances to get the ball to a dynamite running back and not try it once beggars belief.

    - had they gone to him (he was my candidate for MVP had the Seahawks found a way to win) I reckon it might have been different. Having said that though, the interception wasn't about height - Butler was just quicker off the mark. I'm actually surprised Wilson didn't try and run it himself - that's what I thought was coming when Lynch stepped out of the back field.

You're in good company on here then sadly

I know a few Seahawks fans and they're positively sick this morning and I can't blame them. Having said that, I was reeling when Kearse caught that pass as it was like deja vu from the Manningham catch, so I think we were due our own bit of luck.

Only 220 days until we get underway all over again - til then, I'm switching to baseball mode in the faint hope that the Red Sox can make it a great year for Boston sport

what a game. Roller coaster of emotions, especially when kearse made that catch.

Malcolm Butler will never have to pay for anything in new England ever again.

Bizarre ending a nail-biting game. That ending, you can't script that. I was like "Not again!!!!!" when Kearse came up with that ball. Very baffling last call of the game but I have to think they thought they could catch us off guard but it didn't work. But as others have said, why not use up your other downs first?
