By my reckoning, there are were 5 cantilever struts up yesterday (May 10th) and the first ones went up on May 5th - so an average of one per day. The West Stand appears to have 18 struts, so in theory, we could have the length of the stand done in another fortnight.

That assumes the build plans contunue as they are, as opposed to them doing (say) half the structure, then some internal work, then the second half.
Off the top of my head:

    • Complete the steel & concrete bleachers / stairs etc
    • Roof steel & cladding needs to go on
    • Cladding to the external walls + probably some element of blockwork walls
    • External finishes + Bit of landscaping!
    • Internal Services (plumbing/lights/power/fire systems etc) + External Lights/PA system
    • Spot of decoration (mint green perhaps?) & minimal finishes
    • Bit of a fit out - turnstyles/food areas/toilets etc
    • Final mucking about to finish all the bits they missed!
    • Oh and put the seats in!!

So would probably expect end of July to be fairly realistic IMHO, depending on weather and level of finishes and how good the contractor/suppliers are!

And the pitch work must included new undersoil heating to go in before the turf goes down?

BTW what are they doing about floodlights??

I think if they continue in the mode of moving on to the next job for each section once complete (eg concrete already going onto the framework in the first section) , we could be looking at some sections being open nice and early.

Well done if you bought seats nearest to the South Stand

As has been said elsewhere, the key thing will be getting the pitch up to scratch in time for the first ties in July. That's the real deadline.

One assumes floodlights will be as per the West - though realistically won't be needed until later in the season anyway. The Euro qualifiers are usually during the day, aren't they?

Think Hibs are missing a trick by not putting a bar in the east, surely something they are looking at down the line? About >95% of old east-standites have had at last 1 pint before the game! BTG always mobbed, makes sense to me, just let walkups in aswell showing a match ticket, another money spinner, surely be a winner?

I suspect that the priority right now is to get the stand up and operating; a licence application might slow that down. It would make sense for the club to look at all ways of boosting revenue, though I suspect that the polis and the licensing board might just reckon that letting the East Stand hooligans have access to DRINK! before a football match would mean the end of civilisation as they know it....

But a decent hospitality area with big-screen TVs and reasonable quick meals and a bar would be an asset IMO.

The pub-owners in Easter Road and the Walk might not agree, mind....

Rod must have set up one of his incentive schemes.

Horse's head in the bed? Hands nailed to the bar? The offer of a lift to the airport in the 'family' car?

bit of an unintersesting but did the contractors take out the undersoil heating as well? is there a chance it could be damaged?

As I recall, it was to be replaced anyway, as the bigger pitch needs a bigger network of heaters.....

Is there going to be a singing section in the East at the south end? Would be great if it was like the wee Motherwell neds, only 3 times the size

The top corner nearest the South will be the 'singing section' I noticed that when I renewed a few weeks ago.

Bigger team, bigger stand, bigger time to get planning permission, bigger time to find the cash to build it, bigger duration to build it....

If it's the top corner we will hardly be able to see the away fans

Looks a bit flimsy. Big slabs supported on loft ladders. Is this standard construction? Jings!
No more bouncing for the east.

I miss the old stand ( the west ), old railway sleepers and rusty corrugated iron and the boiler with the gas ring, sitting on the wooden floor, to heat the water for the Bovril.

Is it just me or is there quite a lot of space between the end of the east and the south? Think it might just be the angle the photos are taken at but there seems quite a big gap.

The original planning application made mention of vehicular access to the pitch, which might explain the gap.

Also, should there ever be the need to put something into the corner - say a large screen, you would need a bit of a gap to actually build it in.

The cartoon-like rendered images do imply a bit of a "running track" in front of the East, further pushing the stand back away from the edges of the South and Famous Five

It seems we missed the opportunity to have a really imposing "closed in" arrangement.

Looking good. Also pic below from the Bounce taken last night around 9:00pm. The beams do look a bit flimsy!

Tell you what (looking as ever on the brighter side of things) - if it falls down, there's plenty of photographic evidence for the FAI right here in this thread....

Looking at the construction of the stand I would not think that it will ever be fully fitted out inside.

Firstly the concourse is a fair bit above pitch level thereby reducing the available space below the seating area. Secondly those girders do not appear to be large enough to support anything more than the seating accommodation and I could not see how any concrete flooring could be put in at higher levels in any case.

I think the club have gone for a cheap basic structure which admittedly will look impressive from the outside with much improved match day facilities on the inside. Although it will look similar to the other stands at first glance it will really just be a shell which is not future proofed.

This is not intended to be a criticism by the way and in a better economic climate perhaps the club would have put in bars or other hospitality rooms. As it stands we are already fairly well catered for in these respects and our completed stadium will still be the envy of most of the SPL.
