Great to see him back in full training after all the troubles hes had,as far as him in the team though,i don't rate him that highly. He's never really impressed me or made me think he will be anything special. This is not meant as an attack on him, just my opinion.
I have to agree with your sentiments. Apart from one particular game a few years ago in which he shone, he has not developed or even come close to threatening to make the right back slot his own. A division 1 player in my reckoning.

Kev McCann played centre mid against the huns once, he scored an absolute raker.

Game finished 3-3 Whitty also scored a great goal for us. We had Boozy at sweeper that day.

McCann also scored against Gretna in a league game, and may have bagged another 1 or 2.

He always looked solid and dependable at RB, and never scared of making a crunching tackle. Would love to see him make it.

Agree with Doddie about him being played at RB with DW at RM. Would love to see that.

    Smith
    McCann Hogg Bamba Murray
    Wotherspoon McBride Miller Gow
    Stokes Deek/Nish

That would be a pretty solid team in the SPL IMO.

No cheese or kitchen appliance puns please...

I quite liked McCann's performance as a defensive midfielder in a few games.

Noted Sir, will try and do better.

I would just like him to get a fair crack o'the whip when / if he returns to first team duty...

I think we'll see a stronger built player, when he returns. I saw him against East Fife and he really seemed to have bulked up.
From what I've seen of him, he is a very good full back.

Now that sounds more like what we are looking for.

Me thinks a lot of netters are writing him off at 22 years of age I would expect much more than we have had in the past..

Does those who are criticising him remember the season he burst on the scene? Goal against Rangers, etc, a very attacking fb. If he replicates that, we have a quality player on our hands. However, he now has it all to prove.

I think you're missing the point.Nobody is criticising KMs ability, its wether or not he can hold down a regular spot in our first team that i doubt.Have to agree with a couple posters regarding his tackling ability.Disagree with you about him being a very attacking full back though,i dont think thats his strength at all.

I was hot on the idea of strengthening the RB position because our only recognised right-back "specialist" - McCann (Spoony being a midfielder and McCormack a CB) has been plagued with injuries which we can't be certain he'll ever fully recover from. Hopefully he will of course - and if he does then he certainly will be like a new signing.
RB is his position and going by the fact he scored a couple of goals in his twenty odd appearances there so far, I'd say he's got some attacking instict in his locker.

I suspect that Yogi shared my concerns about KM's long term fitness and would have liked to get in a RB - but only a good one would do, which didn't come off. Here's hoping that McCann will make good his recovery and make strengthening this position superflous in the summer.

Brilliant to see him back in training. Lets hope that, his injury crisis is away now and hopefully gets his fitness levels back and is very similar to the player that he already was.

McCann had a brilliant game against Aberdeen in a scottish cup tie at pittodrie on a mud bath of a pitch, in my opinion he`s a defensive right back rather than an attacking one, he won`t have to worry about crossing the halfway line with either Wotherspoon or if need be Zemmama in front of him, i think Yogi sees him as giving the team a better balance, my only doubt is that he has been out of the game for a long time and might be used sparingly, good luck to the kid he deserves some.
