Last time we played Edinburgh City in the Scottish Cup we lost 3-2 at Easter Road

That was on the 22nd January 1938, mind you.

Looks like it's gonna be Montrose then.

The last time we played them http://www.soccerbase.com/results3.sd?gameid=401387

    Same again please.

well Montrose are 'pros' so we have not excuses for not ripping the throat out of them from the start.

I bet McNeil can't wait to face Deek and Stokes with the Montrose defence to guard him.

Is McNeil still training daily with Raith? If so, Montrose must be paying him a fair whack, unless he's still full time with them and just training with Raith for ease of convenience? I wouldn't imagine he would have been on enough at Hibs to allow him to live off the proceeds of his time with us until he goes back full time?

I'm sure he will and after all why shouldn't he?

There are always a couple of clowns who will go OTT with some verbal, I'm sure it won't be anything worse than he's faced before.

I will be giving Andy a good reception when he comes up to the FF end

Cup winning keeper, and gave up his time to come down to a Leith Athletic end of season bash for my laddies age group. Good Lad.

No matter what anyone thinks about Mcneil,he is a cup winning player with Hibs and his reception should reflect that.He is also a Hibby!

It's amazing he's went from CIS cup winning and Scotland U19-U21 keeper to Division 3 so fast.

Good luck to him though...but not too much luck against us obviously

Kept us in the Final with a cracking save from a Naismith shot. Game would've been a lot different had that went in and put Killie 1 nil up.

Hopefully McNeil gets a great reception, right before Stokes puts a few past him and sends us to the next round

I know that we have had our problems with goalies over the years, but I for one will be giving Andy Mc a good welcome to ER.

One more WINNERS medal than Gary Mckay... :notworthy:

i was at the game tonight, and i have to say edinburgh were the better of the two teams. Montrose couldnt pass the ball, and flung it forward as soon as they could. edinburgh looked to play the ball.

even though city missed out on the next round, i hope they take heart from a good performance and the 1000 crowd give the club a wee boost.

I'd agree with that. I mentioned while watching that City looked more dangerous when they were passing it rather than playing the long ball like Montrose were. City got in behind the defence with some quick passing moves, just too often lacked composure when the chances came.

Montrose played it long all the time, didn't seem to have much else to offer. Credit is due for the 3rd goal though, the boy (Nicol I think) took on the entire City team, went in between the two centre backs and scored.

He made a few mistakes (4 or 5?) but he was only young and was unlucky to be following in the footsteps of Malkowski where every goal was fully analysed (by the fans and media) to see if the keeper could be blamed for it. He's unlucky to be playing at that level IMO.

Jamie McDonald is the same age as McNeil and is still at Hearts - purely down to him not being thrown in too early for them. they sent him on loan to QoS he made a couple of mistakes against us in the Cup and went back to Hearts and they've hidden him since.

McNeil would be a very good 1st Div keeper if he got the chance to play in that league.

How many more people are going to come up with this myth? My granny would have saved that, it was a routine save. FFS if he had let that in, he'd have been out the door a lot quicker than he was. Well done andy, he's a cup winning Hibby, but lets not make lies up about cup winning saves.

To be honest I thought it was a great save but we all have different opinions.
