I see the sport section of the Scotland on Sunday claims that Falkirk are now looking to sell both these players in January and bring in around 6 players to help them avoid relegation (including quote form Falkirk chairman!). Could this open the way to bring in both while giving several players to Falkirk to bolster their squad - perhaps the likes of Nish, Rankin or Thicot? Along with cash to sweeten the deal.
Hopefully with the 1/2 ST's selling well, we may have the money to improve the offer for Arfield.
Time will tell!

Falkirk now looking to sell Barr & Arfield (merged)

I suppose Arfield is definitely one for us for the next 2/3 seasons to fill Zemmamas boots. I still would like to see a left midfielder since galbraith isnt being given a shot, and a LB and/or CB

with the OF struggling, good timing by Falkirk IMHO.
They'll be hoping the OF move for certainly Arfield thus shoving the token offer HIbs will make needing to be increased.

Having now signed the superior Liam Miller, I don't see the point in signing Arfield. Not sure he's any better than Wotherspoon.
If we're spending cash in January I'd much rather we went for Paul Caddis who is also in the papers today saying he's ready to give up on Celtic. He's out of contract in the summer aswell so sling them £2/300k and snap the boy up. Problem RB position solved.

Caddis is a great shout. I also think we could give killie £100k and nish for Kevin Kyle. He woul be an improvement on Nish and give us a different option to the strikers we already have.
Barr is a cert to come in January. Big Sol will be away for a month so we will need to have someone lined up to fill the cb slot.
If Sol has a good African nations tournament he might get the move to England that he wants!

Have said Caddis for a hwile now. Also Smith from Rangers and that allows Murray in to centre half next to Barr. However Hanlon again won excellent praise for his performance last night, perhaps we do not need Barr at all.
Also want Galbraith in at LM, with Zemmama on the right.

Hanlon on loan to falkirk for 6 mths would suit all parties:
Falkirk get a good, hungry, young prospect.
Hanlon gets experience (likely be busy during his 90 minutes)
Hibs - get a player back with a bit more SPL gametime under his belt.

As he is under 24 we would have to pay a transfer fee which is based on his salary.

Hanlon to Falkirk on loan is a good shout, especially if he is slightly out the picture for the LB slot!
So thats Barr, Arfield, Kyle, Caddis & Smith all coming in with 2 or 3 fringe players leaving! Sounds no bad... :-)

Scott Arfield - Worth the Cash?
Is it just me that thinks we shouldn't be spending alot of money on this guy??? Not often we have money to spend and I think we should spend it wisely! Just read that someone on here sees him as a long term replacement for zemmama!!
Seems that alot of people are judging him purely on over enthusiastic media coverage. As a Hibs fan living in Falkirk ive had the misfortune of being dragged to a few Falkirk games over the last couple of years and have seen enough of Arfield to say that hes a DECENT young player. Someone that will fight for the ball and has plenty of energy. Fair enough hes still young and has the opportunity to improve his game but I think spending alot of money on him would be foolish.
Be interesting to know whether any of you have seen him play more than once???

I don't think we will spend a lot of money on him, if an auction starts we will drop out.
It might be a last minute signing in January if at all.

we will never ever get a better chance to split the OF.
I'd like us to show a bit ambition, sign a centre half and it could be a great season.
the OF are struggling.....rangers will sign no-one and celtic will win nowt with mcmanus and caldwell at the back if they keep playing as well as they did yesterday.

I love all this stuff, but are we not getting a wee bit ahead of ourselves? Yogi will obviously rate thes 2 young Falkirk guys, but the OF,PROBABLY der hun, will have their eye on them too. still it would be great to have so much options/cover for these positions. Just dont see the 2 aforementioned being at ER.
