Chicago and Tokyo both out of the running. It's between Rio and Madrid. Announcement at 17:30.

I watched the last few minutes of BO's speech on Sky News this morning.

He talks a good game but what a slavering ****. Going on about how we need to bring the world and their differences together and how the Olympics makes relations between nations stronger etc etc.

I just thought give it a ****ing rest for a minute. I know that politics play a big part in getting games etc but STFU for 5 minutes.

Probably the least safe city out of the 4 candidates.

Having said that though, everyone predicted Beijing to be a complete failure.

I see some of the Yanqui commentators already asking if the IOC are anti-American (where's Senator Joe McCarthy when you need him?).

Why have I got the nasty feeling that this might not be altogether good news for the city's street kids and poor folks?

The street kids will enjoy it. Transport laid on, a few weeks in the country in fact they'll enjoy it that much they wont come back when it's all over.

Hmm. There are other ways of getting rid of street kids....
