    Pavement Reforming!

This is possibly the most exciting thing that has ever happened. Ever.

Doesn't get much better than this!!! If I was financially solvent I'd be booking flights to New Your for this in the morning

Privileged to have many happy memories of seeing the band live in the past, hopefully UK shows will be announced soon

Rotten device, Ill say it twice......

    Well, yes, but...

I always fear the worst for reunions, particularly when it's a band as beloved as Pavement. No doubt time will tell.

    They'd better be!

Being too young to have really had the chance to see them back in the day, if they reform and don't come over here I'll be writing a very strongly worded letter to Messrs. Malkmus and Kannberg.

Run from the pigs, the fuzz, the cops, the heat,
Pass me your gloves, theres crime and its never complete,
Until you snort it up or shoot it down,
    Youre never gonna feel free,
Out on my skateboard the night is just hummin,
And the gum smacks are the pulse I'll follow if my walkman fades,
But I've got absolutely no one, no one but myself to blame.

    *passes out with excitement*

    Kill joy!

But, yeah, I think I'd probably be alot more dubious if I'd got to see them live, so slightly selfish I suppose...

Appreciate what you say, it's easy for bands to reform for the hard cash, t-shirts et all.

On the other hand there will be loads of younger punters who didn't have the opportunity to see certain bands (of many eras) in their prime - the Pixies or MBV are good examples. Hell I went to see Stiff Little Fingers a few years after they first broke up, all the hits and a fantastic time had by all

So personally don't see the harm in rolling out all the favourites for a greatest hits tour, it's only when the greatest hits are repeated ad-nauseam year after year that I have issues. Hopefully it'll be a catalyst for new material.

It also has the fortunate side-effect of (hopefully) stopping Malkmus releasing sub-standard solo albums, which I invariably regret spending money on about an hour after having done so.

In the age of Spotify, no one should ever splurge their hard-earned on sub-standard albums again. God bless those crafty Swedes.

For me the problem is not bands trying to make a quick buck, it's the often inevitable going-through-the-motions, capturing-former-glories feel of the gigs. Not entirely inevitable though - a couple of notable exceptions:

The Jesus and Mary Chain at Connect in 2007(?) and Public Enemy's 'Don't Look Back' (Nation of Millions) tour...in each case both the band and the crowd seemed absolutely up for it, as if the material in question was not only hot off of the press, but unquestionably the best ***** available.

Maybe Pavement will be like that. Maybe not.

Great news, Gary Young's not in the line up so hopefully this should work. Mind you he's probably fit and well these days.

I thought this was about a new council regime where they go about actually fixing broken pedestrian walkways..

That would of been far more interesting

    Cheers mate.

As much as I love Pavement, I'm just falling short of the excitement I underwent for the Pixies reform gigs.
