    Which begs the question, why would we sell him now when he is going to be playing in the World Cup next year? surely he should be kept til then as a minimum.

    There is always the risk of injury / failure to make the World Cup squad etc etc.

    Would you accept, say, £1.2m now for a player that cost us £75k a year ago - or risk waiting another year, by which time his value could easily have gone down as well as up?

    I say take the gamble and go for 2.5m after the world cup.

    £2.5m for a guy who has only a year left on his contract by 2010?

    Yogi should be offering him an extension, with 2-3 million pound release clause.
