Do recreational drugs work?
Just curious of opinions?
Bit of a loose question, that is meant outwith a medicinal sense.Last edited by Wembley67; 06-03-2009 at 10:29 PM.

Had a spell in my younger, less responsible days where I took a lot of stuff.
Always thought ecstacy was minted when it was in the system, and brutal the next day. Hard to describe the feeling when you're coming up, but everything is hunky-dorey, and if you've some good tunes and good company at the same time - awesome!
I stopped taking them when I had someone else to worry about, when I met my now wife, I figured that if I had a reaction or took a bad one, then I'd have died being a selfish twat, putting a couple of hours good time ahead of the people I love.
To be honest, it wasn't just that that stopped me taking them, I remember going to a gig and being that happy at it, without taking anything, that I just thought it was a waste of time trying to recreate that artificially.
Sometimes I got really paranoid on them too, same with smoking dope - used to enjoy being really relaxed and a bit spaced, but if I was in company I just couldn't talk - I was always really worried about what I was going to say.
Never found speed had a huge effect on me, and I only tried acid a couple of times, which was an experience!
Haven't touched anything for years though, don't smoke and I hardly ever drink these days.
My short term memory is a bloody joke nowadays, and I suspect that's down to the drugs to a degree.

You could have Cheryle cole waiting to be sorted out but mad **** in your head or mad feelings would take over...and it's "not tonight".
As long as you were happy though.

07-03-2009 03:43 AM #6I dunno... Amsterdams magic mushrooms (now illegal) after the first couple of wayward hours did more good than harm in a manner of speaking...This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Are the mushrooms in Amsterdam now illegal? That's a shame, I'm over on business next week and fancied visiting a mushroom gallery.
Like Matty, I used to be partial to a night out on ecstasy, but I stopped for two reasons: 1) The pills got pretty poor. You know there's difference between paying £20 or a £1 for something. 2) As said, that lifestyle doesn't really enhance personal relationships (in the long term) or family life.
Don't really like cocaine, though after a big, long lunch or meal it can be a nice lift if you want to carry on. I just rant rubbish all night (as I do on drink but unlike just being drunk I unfortunately remember most of it) and feel, as has been said, floppy.
My drugging and partying days are long gone, and I'm happy about that, but I wouldn't have missed them.

Do they work ? It depends where you get them

Done most of them in my time apart from the big 2.
I didnt really like E's TBH and didnt rate charlie either. Speed was great for dirty filthy nookie.
LSD was the dugs baws.
As for dope , well , it keeps me sane.
I dont often touch alcohol .
If i had a choice it would have to be Hindi Kush scuff or White Widow cabbage.

As with everything they will affect every individual differently.
I would say to people - best avoided. The risks are not worth the high. I had a few years in my early 20's when I indulged, it cost me a great relationship with a wonderful woman, and my short term memory is ****ged.
Saying that I do enjoy some MDMA once a year at whichever festival I am attending... It's a wonderful drug..Last edited by Chuckie; 07-03-2009 at 01:32 PM.

Unluckily or luckily depending on how you look at it, i was about 19 and had a bad (very bad) experience with ecstasy on the second time i tried one!
made me realise why they are illegal along with other drugs and now i don't take anything. Well excluding the odd festival roll-up like chuckie!

Like some here have said when I was younger I went through a stage of trying them, Smack and Crack was always a no-no though, to me they are not recreational drugs in the slightest.
E's when they kicked in were class, everyone was your mate and you were having a great time, the come-down off them though is as bad as you will ever get, your body is goosed the next day.
Coke/Ching/Charlie gives you a different feeling completely to Ecstacy, more alert, friendly and confident are the three biggest effects of it but the next day your nose feels like you have a bad cold.
Weed is a must for when you are having a come-down from either of those drugs and is good for a smoke now and then.
Mushies/Speed/MDMA have all been tried but were never for me.
The most dangerous drug out there is Alcohol

Herbal highs are good - Doves, for example. Legal too. Never tried hard stuff except for
which I've stopped. Don't drink often either.

31-03-2009 11:58 AM #16Having worked with people who come into A&E following a self harm attempt, two things jumped out at me. They were all glad that they were still alive, and they had all taken too much drink leading up to the attempt. It is a very dangerous drug. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member.
