    Usain Bolt

Anybody see the 100m final yesterday.

    This guy was amazing.

He stopped sprinting after 85-90m and cantered to a world record.

Jamaica have to be a stick on for the 4x100m relay.

The guy is unbelievably fast and did break the world record...

Buy why not just run at full pelt and destroy the record while grabbing the gold?

thats what i thought I reckon he could have broken that record by another 0.1 of a second too!

Yea the Jamacians are pretty much gauranteed the 100m relay, considering the other Jamacian boy in the 100m final was the previous world record holder till Bolt smashed it too.

Very possible, if he done that I don't think anyone would break the record ever again.

He said after the race that his main goal was getting the Gold Medal and that breaking the world record wasn't really in his plans.
".....Hearts midfielder Laryea Kingston insists he can fulfil all his dreams at Tynecastle - by winning the SPL and a European trophy.
The Ghanaian is certain the Jambos will soon become a major power at home and abroad"

for anybody who didnt see it live yesterday...
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olym...cs/7565572.stm

The guy just tore away from half way and was almost strolling over the finish line and still broke the world record. Never seen anything like that in my life.
Look out for him in the mens 200m in a couple of days aswell. Apparently thats his strongest event

It is indeed. He's hardly ever run any competitive 100m races before, despite beating the WR twice this year . Stick on to do the sprint double, and if you watched them lining up for the start of the 100m yesterday you'll notice he's not short of confidence and unlikely to freeze like Asafa Powell does.

As for Jamaica in the 4x100, they should win as long as they get the baton round OK.

He said he wasn't bothered about breaking the record because he was holding it anyway

Some people have been quite cynical and saying that he wanted to "keep his powder dry" so that he can break the record again at a "big money event".

I obviously don't know the guy personally but the impression that I get from him, that's a load of betty swollocks.

I genuinely believe that he had one goal in mind and that was to win gold.

He broke his own record of 9.72 yesterday, I think it was a couple of months ago he broke Powells 9.77.

Its scary to think what time he would have posted if he had ran at full pelt for the full 100 metres!!!!!

Think Powell may have had the OR but he definitely had the WR(9.72).

Interesting to hear what Donovan Bailey was saying about the 200m. If you missed it he said that Michael Johnson usually ran 100m about 10.1s so even if Bolt took the first 100m fairly easily he could still smash the 200m WR, which I think he will want.

i heard the same thing yesterday, if he waits until a golden league event in zurich next year and beats it he gets a million quid. find it hard to believe.

seen his race today and it was ridiculous. he stopped running and jogged the last 60m or so and still was the fastest qualifier. i hope he runs full pelt for the final and smashes the record

Seems the Jamaican's have brought thier athletes home, and provided facilities and funding not to go to the USA.

    If true, it's worked

Bolt ran 19.63 for the 200m into a headwind in Lausanne tonight. Fourth fastest ever.

Slowing down with 15 metres or so to go again!!

    Unreal.
