Several further plays have revealed that it's not in the same league as their first 2. Pretty boring to be honest.

A word of warning on the new Chemical Brothers album - I got it in Tesco and it's one of the worst albums of the year IMO. As a fan of Aphex Twin I thought I'd try and explore some similar acts < a move I regret.
On the other hand (and I never thought I'd say this), MUSE's "Drones" is quite good.
Enjoying the new Orb album, their best in ages
Marks To Prove It by The Maccabees. Sounds pretty good after the first couple of listens. Tough ask to follow up Given To The Wild with an album of the same quality but there's potential in this one.
Eels at the Royal Albert Hall is a really lovely live album.
New Dr Dre album finally released yesterday. Bang average and you really can't take a middle aged billionaire rapping about the 'street' seriously. No doubt the production is fantastic as you'd expect from a mainstream rap album produced by Dre and similar to The Chronic the best songs are the ones he rarely raps on instead allowing more talented rappers to shine. On the whole it just feels a bit fake and a non event really tbh. Was half expecting lyrics like:
Call the Police
There's intruders on my grounds
Targeting nmy pad, probably coz their brown
I'm busy selling headphones to teenagers
For a little bit of gold, what's a pager?
Call call call the Police
Call the Police
Listend to the chenical bros album the other day and its very poor by there standards. They make music for the charts and frstival main stages though so prob not best placee to look for something similar to aphex twin. Im not much of a fan himself myself either but if your looking for electronic albums id recomend moderat, dj koze, apparat, death in vegas, matthew herbert, nicolas jarr and darkside
Chemical Bros album is very dull stuff. Django Django are far more lively and melodic. They remind me of the Beach Boys with the harmonies and that.
The Youth To Become by Stories is one I'm currently enjoying. Beautiful blend of melodic rock and heavier metalcore, reminiscent of Senses Fail or Thrice at times :aok:
Catfish and the Bottlemen album The Balcony.
Pacifier being my fav so far from it.
A few good albums out in September.
Chvrches - Every Open Eye
Stereophonics - Keep the Village Allive
Bring Down The Horizon - That's the Spirit - not really a fan of this type of music but their new album is fantastic.
Despite their overt Christian message that permeates their songs, I'm quite enjoying Wolves At The Door's "Vxv" album :agree:
Foals - What Went Down
Decent first listen
So far im loving the new direction they have gone in. Genuine massive big up to Oli for taking a risk and relying on singing instead, he has some voice on him! MAssive respect that him and Jordan have produced it too.
Parkway Drive's new album also comes out this month and their latest single 'Crushed' is huge.
So far I'm thinking better than holy fire and antidotes but not as good as total life forever which is one of my favourite albums of recent years. Takes me a while and a few listens to really get to know an album though so it could still go either way. Mountain at my gates and London thunder are the early front runners for favourite tracks at this stage.
The real test of it will come in the winter, foals previous albums being almost perfect snowboarding music. Looking forward to testing this one out :greengrin
"Hate" was probably too strong a word on my part but I certainly don't love what I've heard from it so far. Happy Song is alright but Throne and True Friends are too synthy for my liking. From the snippets of the other songs I've heard on the album, it seems that's going to be a massive feature.
I was never a fan of them as a deathcore band and I understand them wanting to approach more mellow stuff - I just hope it isn't to the full detriment of some of their heavier sounds.
Avicii - Stories out on 2nd of October :hyper
been enjoying quite a few recent releases.
widowspeak - all yours
method man - the meth lab
mac demarco - another one
not an album but bill ryder jones new single - 'two to birkenhead' is excellent as well. hope theres an album to follow it
And it definitely doesn't disappoint. Doomed has quickly become one of my favourite tracks. Completely broody track, still with the element of heaviness but loads of samples and electronics which sets the tone for the rest of the album.
To me, their best work yet. Never thought I'd hear a saxophone solo in BMTH.
Oli's voice has dramatically improved on this album. I can this year becoming massive for them. Complete game-changer album, might just see a few more metal bands change to a softer, more accessible approach.
Get that parkway drive CD ordered also! 2 more new songs released and they are very heavy.
Cannot wait until Chvrches 2nd album is out next week. One of my favourite bands in recent years. :hyper
Richard Hawley's new one Hollow Meadows sounds like it meets his usual level of brilliance after the first listen.
