Thundering body shot right on the bell. Another round to Taylor. Looks like a matter of time
That could be that.
Oooft. Close.
Stopped.
Probably right.
Brave lad to get up there, could have stayed down and no one would have complained.
Fight stopped. Stunning performance.
****ing brilliant kid, well done
As I said a matter of time. Fantastic performance
Wonder how long until they go after Tyrone Nurse and the Lonsdale belt?
Another couple of fights?
Probably could have gone on a bit longer looking at it, but the boy wasn't throwing anything back.
Next few fights, sky seems like the limit.
Barry McGugian says Burns within 9 months!!! He really rates him
I wouldn't want to see Josh chucked in with Ricky Burns too soon, he doesn't have enough rounds behind him IMO.
Burns has been the distance on a number of occasions in title fights whereas that was the longest Josh has fought tonight.
That said he is in a good camp and they should know how to handle him.
If they time it correctly it could well be RB last big pay day.
Special talent
I get where you are coming from but think that the timing is perfect, Ricky will be at least 34 when they fight, Josh 26/27, JT is his worst nightmare in terms of hand speed and fitness, don't confuse lack of rounds with staying power. Ryan was a world top10 not so long ago an got destroyed tonight.
Does anyone know what team Josh Tadylor supports?
Guaranteed future world champion. If he proves to have the durability to match his talent and athleticism then he could become a top p4p star in a couple of years. He would need to beat your Bud Crawfords and the likes though.
Edinburgh never really turned out in big numbers for Alex Arthur, and part of the reason (I'm told) was that he alienated the maroon boxing fans by posing in a hibs top - any truth in that?
I don't think that's true. I really like Arthur, but he just wasn't involved in enough big fights to get the non hardcore boxing fans behind him. Josh Taylor has the potential to do something special, but for the moment he's just a local fighter with promise. The only thing that worries me about Taylor is that he isn't a young guy, why has it taken him this long to burst onto the scene. Time will tell, but I've never been as excited about local fighter than I am now.
Not a fan of Arthur myself. I went to almost everyone of his fights up until around the Nicky cook fight. He never recovered from the Gomez fight where he went in with a bad attitude. After Gomez defeated him he fought plenty nobodys and never regained the form he showed before that night. IMO bad attitude and also some bad decisions (employing Roach as his trainer). Could have been so much better.
It hasn't really taken him that long to get to this stage. Josh didn't start boxing until 15, a mere 9/10 years ago. He then boxed in many local/national competitions, before bursting onto the scene in Delhi 2010. At this point Josh was only 19 years old. He had only boxed for 4 years and very nearly won Commonwealth Games Gold. He then wanted to box at the Olympics, but due to his weight already being taken, he had to drop a weight and go in at 60kg. After the Olympics he had a choice, he wanted to avenge the defeat in Delhi and win Gold, which he did in Glasgow. He has now fought 7 times in 2 years since then. So in 10 years he has built a fantastic career, and is now looking like a ready made World Champion.
